Soon I'm going to buy my first scooter. I'm on a fixed income and I'm gradually saving money for it. Due to costs and lack of dealers, it looks like I'll have to buy one online. I know that's not really the best situation for a first-time buyer, but I can't help it. I'm just going to have to deal with the problems that arise in the best way I can.
We have two motorcycle dealers in my area that sell scooters. One is a Suzuki shop that sells Kymcos. The other shop sells Hondas and Yamahas. I'd really prefer to buy a used scooter of one of those brands, but even the couple of used ones they have are out of my price range, and financing isn't an option for me.
Before I found this site, I read a lot of posts on your old forum and I noticed a couple of online dealers who were recommended, and I also noticed some who weren't. Valley Scooters seemed to be one that everyone agreed was reputable, and I'm looking at a couple they have for sale.
Another dealer, Extreme-Scooters, has a deal that's interesting and I wanted to see what y'all thought about it. They have a Tank 150 Touring Deluxe for $1099 delivered and it has a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. Is this a good buy? I don't know much of anything about Tanks.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share, and if you have some other ideas that I should consider, please let me know about them.

Tank has not made scooters since 2009, so the warranty is non-existant. May have some dealers that have old stock laying around. It was always one of my favorite entry level brands.
And Yes, John at Valley Scooters is who you need to talk to. You need to call or email to find out what models they currently have, their website does not always reflect current inventory.
The majority of what they carry is Znen built which tend to have a better fit and finish, better fasteners and better internal parts quality.

DX Yup..Tank is no longer around..so you have no warranty. The did however make a good product...built by Shanghai Shenke...same company that makes many of the Jonway Scooters who are still in business. Man I want one of their Raptor 2 stroke scoots so badly too! Got to ride a Jonway Raptor..acceleration and top end are right up there with the top of the line scoots costing twice as much. Of course no where near the Aprilla SR50..but just a fast and snappy as the Benelli Andretti 50cc Scoot. Even though the warranty is not good anymore..you would like the Tank Touring Deluxe. Worked on many when I was a mechanic for a dealer. Only downfall I saw with them was their weight....but with a CVT roller weight swap then ran with the best of them.

[replyingto=carasdad]carasdad[/replyingto]If the dealer/distributor will give me some sort of warranty -- 6 months to a year, maybe -- it might be worth the risk. I'll see if I can work out a deal. I won't buy it without some sort of guarantee, though.

Thanks for the welcome! I saw a new Kymco around here (I'm in Biloxi, Mississippi) and I liked it a lot. It cost about 3 times what I had at the time, and I couldn't get financing for it. I'd buy a used one if I could find one around here at the right price. Not many scooter riders around here, though. I really wish they would have financed that one for me, but I'll make do with what I have.
