[replyingto=gatekeeper]gatekeeper[/replyingto]It's a 1988 Honda Elite CH250. He called back tonight and told me that he could be wrong; maybe it's an 8mm. I'll take the bolt to the hardware store tomorrow and find out for sure.

I broke the mirror on my 1988 Honda scooter and I can't find a mirror that will fit it. I called the guy I bought it from and he said it takes a 9mm. I've looked high and low and I've found plenty of 8mm and 10mm, so I'm thinking of buying a set of 8mm mirrors and somehow filling in the extra space so they'll work.
Is there something I can coat the threads with so they'll fit in those wider grooves? I'm thinking that this must be a common problem. Any advice you give will be appreciated.

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]It's one of those things that feel heaven-sent. It was just meant to be. You see, this is my first scooter. I couldn't have done any better in my situation, either, because I'm on a very tight budget. It took me a year to save up for this thing. Somebody is looking out for me; no doubt about it.

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]I would never have been able to afford it. That's the kind of thing collectors do, not most ordinary riders out there. This guy is very conscientious; he takes great care with everything he owns. He has a couple of big motorcycles, too. One of them is huge! He can ride/drive anything; he even has his pilot's license. He's a very accomplished, intelligent man. I got very lucky with this buy.

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]I'm afraid the draft from those big trucks passing by will blow that light scooter off the road. I'm fine with taking it on any other highway around here, but the cops don't enforce the speed limit on the Interstate around here, really, and people drive and all the time on it. It's getting to be like the Autobahn.

[replyingto=domindart]domindart[/replyingto]I like the rounded one better. It fits the shapes on your scooter much better. The other one would look too much like a suitcase. This one would look more like a natural part of your scooter.

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]That is so strange. Is in an Interceptor? That's what I was going to buy. Znen and SSR have different names for it, but it's the same scoot. Life is funny sometimes.I was going to buy a 150, but this one's a 250, which is what I really wanted, anyway. The guy said he took it on the Interstate a few times and it did 75! I don't know if I'm brave enough for all that, though.

[replyingto=domindart]domindart[/replyingto]You know, I never thought I'd get an orange scooter, but I immediately liked it. The guy who owned it said it was originally a metallic gray sort of color, but he wanted something with better visibility. I think he had a good idea, there. He even threw in an orange helmet to match it. What a great guy!

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]Love it! I'm a big Lou Reed fan. I was just thinking about it, and I don't believe I remember seeing any scooter commercials back then. Scooters weren't on my radar back then, anyway. All I wanted was a car.

[replyingto=scootnwinn]scootnwinn[/replyingto]I was so lucky to stumble on to this. The guy had just put it on Craig's List a couple of days before I got it.
I was still looking at ads for scooters every day, even though my mind was pretty well made up that I was going to buy a Znen scooter online. It was love at first sight with this one.
The guy knew what he was doing when he rebuilt it. Practically everything is new on it. He found it in Alaska; it had been mistreated and basically abandoned. He paid $200 for it, put about $2000 worth of parts into it, rode it for a few ears, and sold it to me for $1200. He almost didn't sell it, he liked it so much, but I sure am glad he did! He said he was going to buy a bigger scooter next, probably a Burgman.

[replyingto=pmatulew]pmatulew[/replyingto]OMG! I don't think I ever saw that commercial. I was a big Devo fan, too, back in the day. I'll think about it while I'm riding today. ;D

That's a nice-looking scoot. I wouldn't mind having one like that. Maybe I should give them a second look before I make up my mind. Five years is a long time for a scooter, isn't it?

[replyingto=spandi]spandi[/replyingto]It's going to be hard for me to choose between the SSR and the Motorino. I've got another month to decide, so I'll take my time and find out as much as I can about them before I choose. I think it's good to make as much of an informed choice as possible for something like this.

[replyingto=prodigit]prodigit[/replyingto]Thanks for the reviews. I'll keep them in mind, especially the Roketas.
