My main street 300 scooter has developed steering problems. It has become very hard to turn. It happened all of a sudden. I limped home today with it. It feels sort of like a car with no power steering fluid. It is worse to the left. but both sides are affected. What could this be. When driving home I noticed that when I had to make a turn it wanted to drift and wobble like a child learning to ride a bicycle. It was good on strait a way's. There is no noise of any kind. I did notice that when hitting a bump it was very smooth and quiet instead of the usual clank sound. Any ideas folks.

[replyingto=alleyoop]alleyoop[/replyingto]I definitely don't have one of those on my scoot. I have looked and it just aint there. There is nothing next to the r/r. I wonder whats up with that. I do have a small (approx 2x3 inch) device that appears to have a small circuit board in it that was inside the frame tubing with a 2 wire connector. It had a bare spot on it so I put some electrical tape on it and put it back where it was. I will try to get some pics of it. It is before the r/r. Any one know what it is?. I suspect charging problems because of dim lights that slowly get dimmer the longer I ride and the fact that after longer rides of 75 to 100 miles the battery will go dead and leave me stranded. I bought a new 9 amp battery to take along just in case. I keep them both charged. Having the battery out while running shows no effect +/- on the lights. The instruments. Tail lights, brake lights appear to be normal. Also does the cooling fan run off the battery?.
Thanks.

I suspect I am not charging properly. I have not checked the voltage at the connections yet. The bike will stay running with all lights and instruments with the battery disconnected. What exactly does this mean?. Also I have read that some people have replaced the blocking diode and remedied charging problems. I have seen pictures of various diodes and have not seemed to have found one on my linhai 300 mainstreet. Where is it located on the bike. Pictures would be helpful.
Thanks.

Yes it idles down. On cold days it takes a little longer. The first start in the morning is fine. Every start after is the same problem. I can live with it as the motor runs good afterward. It is just annoying as all get out.

A problem has developed on my baby. It idles very high when restarting. It does this even if it has been off only 15 minutes. Once I get to riding it starts to idle down normally after a little bit. It is strange as the motor runs perfectly otherwise. I have checked for vacuum leaks loose intake bolts etc. all appear good. They are new lines and the intake only has about 1500 miles on it. Every thing else is good. It has good get up and go. I adjusted the fuel and idle and it still does it. Could it be the enricher?. Any ideas guys?.
P.S.
This is my first post on the new forum. Sad to see scootdawg go but it is what it is. I trust this place will be just as friendly and helpful as scootdawg was.
