My main street 300 scooter has developed steering problems. It has become very hard to turn. It happened all of a sudden. I limped home today with it. It feels sort of like a car with no power steering fluid. It is worse to the left. but both sides are affected. What could this be. When driving home I noticed that when I had to make a turn it wanted to drift and wobble like a child learning to ride a bicycle. It was good on strait a way's. There is no noise of any kind. I did notice that when hitting a bump it was very smooth and quiet instead of the usual clank sound. Any ideas folks.

i know their is a bolt that tightens your steering. seems odd that it would suddenly torque itself. the lock nut must have been loose. i would take off the front panel and loosen that bolt before i did anything else.
you may find other problems but hopefully it is simple as loosening it.

Sounds like you waited too long to adjust the collar on your steering stem and now the balls fell out of the bearing race. Stop riding the bike until you get the collar removed and the bearing checked. If you are fortunate the bearing race that is pressed into the steering head of the bike is not damaged yet other wise you will need to press a new one in before replacing the bearing. Hopefuly it is not the bottom bearing which will require the removal of the stem and tree from the bike to check it out and replace if needed.
