The TaoTao ATM50 was a very good bike! I've seen dealerships in the USA full of these bikes (some renting out as much as a hundred of them); regardless if they where from Roketa, TaoTao, or whatever the brand was. The TaoTao was cheap but sufficient material, stripped down to the essentials. The less there is, the less that can break. The suspension was a bit hard stock, but after a good 3000 miles it becomes acceptable. A very small (80% sized) though solid scooter body frame, combined with pretty good factory tuning (stock), made it a very fast scooter; and now they're selling a 150cc version of that 50cc, at about the same price! www.superiorpowersports.com/150cc_Gas_Scooter_Pilot_p/rk150sc-123.htmFor only $140 more than the 50cc, at $940 delivered at your door, you could have this one! It's small size makes it excellent as a race scooter, yet retains almost the same carry capacity as the larger scooters! Those types of scooters can carry almost 1/2 a shopping cart of groceries! It has enough rear trunk, and under seat storage space, and what won't fit, fits on the floorboard! www.superiorpowersports.com/150cc_Gas_Scooter_Pilot_p/rk150sc-123.htmAnyway I thought it was nice to update you on this!

Another thing, if you're lucky your tires will maintain pressure for long time, but most tires lose pressure. In those cases it's better to stick with 38 of 40PSI, as it will naturally decrease to 35PSI over time. And before you know it, the tires will feel mushy, soft, and you're at 32PSI, and need to pump them up again; unless you're someone that checks the tire pressure before every ride.
I check em mostly when I notice a performance loss, or if I feel the tires are a bit on the flat side.

The tire specs are indeed max rating. That's why you need to go with the tire specs! On my EVO150 with 13" rims, it says 40PSI. I know with weather conditions, my own weight on the bike, riding a long time so the tires get hot, the pressure can go up or down, and my meter could be incorrect. Therefor I pump up the tires to 38PSI. I ALWAYS go by the tire specs. It's clear from the specs that that's the max PSI, so it should also be clear not to overdo it. Anyway, almost ALL scooters I've owned, once you hit 35PSI or lower, the ride become softer, wear out the tires faster as they heat up more, as they bend more, gets MPG and top speed down, downto 32PSI which is about the lowest I would keep it at. If tire pressure is below 29PSI you can visually see that the tire needs air (shaped funny where it meets the road); your ride may be soft at 29PSI, but you'll not only lose MPG, top speed and performance, you'll also lose the tires much quicker (as they start bending and heating up, and cause hairline cracks in the rubber, causing miniscule leaks). It's important to keep tire pressure as high as possible.
If you have 40PSI on the tire, and you put 40PSI in it, sit on it, ride it in hot weather, tire pressure could rise to 42PSI, which is what the tire should be able to handle just fine! But I would recommend never to pump them upto max pressure, but stay 2PSI below it.

There is no benefit in the OEM exhaust, except cost - some as low as $40 plus shipping. But they are ubber restrictive. That the stock muffler is restrictive, I have no doubt about that. However, I see no reason why to do the move, if my evo goes as fast as his, while his has performance upgrades and was rejetted. I mean, mine also goes 60MPH on the speedo (a tad faster). The EVO's speedo is about right, perhaps 1MPH off with the GPS .. I think the exhaust tip is the one that's restricting the speed. I'll see if I can't drill it out some day; should give similar results...

if it works, ignore it? change the bearings when they really break, as they won't explode, but take time to wear and become louder. Perhaps something is dragging (brake pad?)?

I personally don't like that type of exhaust. 1- It's too loud 2- it's made out of chinese shiny. Or future rust pipe. I'd prefer something that's a bit more rust protected.

Never go by the spec sheets! Look on the tire itself! Your only guarantee that it's good!
That being said, the standard for tires is 35PSI. You'll have to look on the tire if that number is higher or lower. usually it's never lower. But if it is (eg: 30PSI or 32PSI), you can still put 35PSI in, but it's better not to. Most scooter tires have 35-40PSI max.

I think the bike has enough response already just being stock! Mine does 62-63MPH tops, but does not maintain it. It goes down by 3MPH from that.
I was under the impression it was running a bit rich, so wanted to know how much a freeflow exhaust would do. I know the muffler is super quiet, and I think it is somewhat restricting the bike with that small exhaust tip. I might keep the exhaust, but I probably will drill it out. Only problem is where will I drill it?
Did you re-jetted the bike, and how fast does yours go?

The frames for the bikes are cheaply welded. They're more than good enough to protect the bike, as it's mounted on several points.
The radiator fluid is surprisingly ok! It just needs to have some bit added. The oils need to be changed (50miles for the engine oil, and 100-150 miles for the transmission oil). The color doesn't really matter. The oils are there for the initial break-in; I'd just ride it for 50 miles or odo readings and change it. No reason to waste perfectly good oil when the next oil change is so close by!
It's a nice ride, enjoy!

Hey, how does it perform with a freeflow exhaust compared to the stock one?

- $500 for a scrapped car - $120 for plastic rims - $80 for aluminum foil - $100 for gold paint. Ah, it's less worth than a chinese scooter Probably rusts quite quick too. Probably fades yellow to silver because of the elements Is illegal to ride in some places, there's a treshold on how much reflective surface a car may have. In some states they don't care about the law, but in the majority of the western world, you can't chrome your car, because it reflects headlights, and can blind or confuse drivers at night. It can only be sold in a Ghetto like that... Nowhere else in the civilized world will they sell one like it. Because it's illegal in many places. And if they do sell one, then the owner will have to take it to a body shop and spend extra $$$ to paint it with non reflective paint. You forgot the $40,000 for those ridiculous wheels and tires, and the suspension and body destruction required to mount them I already included those within the $120 for the plastic rims, and the $80 for the aluminum foil

Usually those 'semi automatic' gearboxes aren't too hard to deal with. They cycle from 1st, to 2nd, to 3rd to 4th. And between 4th and 1st it has a neutral, which you can only enter when standing still. When you want to downshift, you can only do that when speed is very low, or when the engine is almost in idling RPM. Basically 5-10MPH and you can downshift from 4th to 3rd, and so on....
I call it tardy down shifting, as you need to wait a while before down shifting. It's not easy, but you can get used to it...
I would immediately treat the 'chrome' which more than likely is just polished steel, not real chrome! Having spokes could make that difficult.
How's it riding for the rest?
I presume top speed is around 50-55MPH?
