Hey Guys, I got a scooter off a guy on craigslist who was giving it away with Title. So far I know it's a two-stroke, 50cc Trike form 2003 with a rear chain transmission. It appears to be a "QuingQI" brand chinese scooter with what I believe is a D1E41QMB02 Engine, and no handbrake/shifter, etc. So it's in pretty rough shape body-wise, but I have experience repairing fiberglass and bodywork/painting, and everything appears to be there so I'm not very worried about that aspect. Now, the engine appears to start and run, although rough. I will post some images to see if anyone here has ever seen one of these? It just looks so bizarre. Anyone have any experience repairing rebuilding one of these? I didn't keep the motor running very long, just enough to make sure it was starting and revving. Like I said, it sounded rough.

Ok, Did some more digging and found a model # on archive.orgArchive from 03 of QingQi Chinese Site
Translated Version
Ok, so it appears to be a 2003 QingQi KF50QZK(L) Tricycle. In the specs it says it's rated to carry (LOL) 160 kg or 308 Lbs. Does that include the weight of the scooter itself? A poor lil' 49cc two-stroke could only carry that on a smooth surface, downhill, with the wind at it's back.

and congrats on the free score! I agree, it does look bizarre. First pic looks more like a kid's peddle-bike than a "real" bike. You totally have to keep posting how the fix-up goes, and how that thing goes once you've got it all finished. >'Kat

It's a taxi ?! First thing I would do is strip it down and clean it up It seems to be missing a fan and a cooling shroud your going to want to have those unless you're going run with no body plastic A two stroke 50cc is the equivalent of a 90cc four stroke so it won't be as slow as you're thinking

Why the heck are you telling ME this ? It's a repeat of what I just said but with splody doom How many nuns is it going to kill ?!? Ahhhhhhh! Most two stroke mopeds have neither cooling fan or shroud And most of them are also more than twenty years old. And while SOME of them may have over heated over the years and years without fans and shrouds . It was most likely poor maintenance and or muddy or oil clogged fins.

That is not what you said if you had said that model engine will overheat without a cooling shroud and fan. I would be happier. But instead you make it seem like I don't know what I am talking about. Then give EXACTLY the the same advice I did but with an OR ELSE.
Instead of bashing my post try to offer something useful. You say you know what model engine that is? I don't but if you do maybe provide a link to a fan and a shroud? If you quote someone you are talking to them. Don't insult your intelligence to pretend otherwise. Just like you know I am talking to you even without a quote

Welcome to the forum from me as well. Looks like an interesting bit of work you have ahead. Just keep it away from Uncle Rob. David

the first thing i would do is check to make sure that it wasn't stolen.
the next thing i would do is to take it to a reputable motorcycle person to make sure the frame hasn't been broken and rewelded, or bent and straightened
the rough idle could be as simple as a inferior sparkplug.
one curious thing i noticed was the rusted cooling fins while the rest of the engine appears to be aluminum.

Since you got it for free, if I where you I would toss that engine and put a modern 150cc engine on it, easier to find parts and information, unless you want a project, that would be cool to put together.

Not sure where you are located. But however if you still need information and help with your trike I am hear to offer what I found out. If you are interested in finding it a new home ? I am very interested. I am located in Manchester NH 03103 I too own one and could always use part's. I can offer you my phone number so we could talk about what you want to do. Either fix or sell/trade. Six 0 three 8 five eight 5three two seven. This is is a business number. I plan on keeping the scooter as a personal toy to ride around on. Not to be sold. I want to give it to my kids to play on.
