What is an affordable good replacement battery. for my JCL MP250A 257cc Linhai powered scoot ? And where should I get it ? Tired of replacing , jumping, charging to often after only a year or so old all the time. Had a batt. for an 800 cc Suzuki Valusia in it this time. Was only an inch or less to tall. And even it couldn't put up with the Florida summer heat. It just knocks the piss out of MC batteries. PS Charging system just fine.

I'm starting to get the feeling that scooter dealers / and scooter parts dealers (batteries) are running this sight. They don't want to steer anybody away from the Chinese batteries they sell maybe ? Just a thought.

Why not bring it to a auto parts store and get the right one.

I was at a Carquest store a week or so ago, and watched an employee place a scooter battery on the counter. The customer complained, "it will only last a year....so don't tell me it costs a hundred dollars". The employee poked a few keys...smiled and said, no, it's only $71 (but in reality, it was close to $77 with the tax) I asked if he kept it on a tender when not used regularly.......he mumbled something.....and I got the feeling he kinda wanted to ignore me, so I went ahead and paid the other employee for the ten feet of Tygon Fuel Line I had stopped for, but as I was walking out, I had to tell him that the last scooter battery I bought (from Chrome Battery) was $22. delivered to my door, and that was in June of 2014.......it is still going strong.......I said, I hope you have better luck with your new battery, and left. Vibration, heat, and extreme cold all take their toll, also driving habits, lots of 2 or 3 minute, one mile trips and such. If you think engine heat is your problem, figure out a way to insulate your battery from it.

I usually get mine from batteries plus,, but this time around I ordered from ebay,, both yuasa for my scooter and dr350 dualsport,, great prices( half of retail and no tax and free shipping),, but they both came dry so I had to stop by Orielly auto parts to grab 2 bottles of acid,,, $7 each,,, so it was a deal,,oh and thanks for the shot that we work for the "dealers " ,,, there's so much dough to be had volunteering on a forum,,,

Don't know if this fits your bike or not, but my OMI battery from 2007 is a Yuasa YTX12-BS. Still good and strong. I do plug into the Battery Tender Jr when I'm not driving daily. And I don't drive a lot, so it's plugged in most of the time. Dunno if that makes any sort of diff.
And while KS doesn't enjoy quite the toastiness of FL's summers, ours can get just as hot and humid for shorter bouts. Plus we get freezing temps for extended bouts, too.

Sorry about the "Dealer" crack. Just started to feel like I had Leprosy. I couldn't believe no one had anything to say for three days on something as simple as "what is a good battery for a hot climate" that's all. The LA batteries ain't getting it for me anymore. I'm trying something else. I can get a BikeMaster Gel batt. for $64 or so to my door. with a 2 year send them a pic. of batt, and invoice and they will send me a new one guaranty. Beats spending $30-35 for an LA Batt on Ebay and once its about 14 months old it starts acting up. leaving me stuck in parking lots and such, Then the charging and jumping BS starts. No thanks, you can have all that. PS My problem is is the place I store my bikes here gets about 110 + F degrees all day in the building during sunny days from darn near April to Sept. AND my winters can get as low as 12 degrees for short periods of time (north central FL.). Thank you for all the replies Guys. Good to be back.

Oh, I have been using the 12 series (a little to tall to fit right) Chromebattery . Going back to a 9 series with this BM gel batt. Sylvre. Thought since the 12 series was for a 800 cc Suzuki Volusia it would be a better bet. But not really.

Except that some kind of battery is too tall so you're getting a shorter one? I'm assuming the one my Piggy uses is the too-tall type? I was thrilled I remembered to ask what type I have, since all the guys seem so interested 'cause it's lasted 9 years so far. I have absolutely zero idea what any of that stuff I told you means. Straight from the mech's mouth to the piece of paper to typing it here. >'Kat, who doesn't have a China-scoot for a very good blonde non-mechanic reason....

The "12" in the XYT 12 whatever battery you have. I had one like yours and its a bit to tall to fit in may JCL 250s battery box. It jacks my seat up a bit. The right batt. for my scoot always seems to have a 9 in the identification numbers / letters.
