Hey guys. I've got a TaoTao ATM-50 scooter, and the drive belt in it broke, so I've tried replacing it. The problem I'm having is that when I get the belt on, it's - well, not right. Correct me if I'm using the wrong terminology, but the problem is when I get the belt on, the loop around the variator is "looser" (wider diameter) than the loop around the clutch. As far as I can tell, it should be the reverse. I don't know if this would be 'corrected' by starting the engine and running it, because I now can't start the engine. (Okay, note to self, try removing belt and making sure I can start the engine without it there...) I'm not sure what the problem is, though it looks like the belt may be in the way of the starting gear. If I've used the forum software correctly, there should be a picture attached of what it looks like right now with the belt on the variator and clutch. Any help you guys can give me is greatly appreciated. I'd really prefer learning how to fix the damn thing on my own to having to figure out how to take it to a shop. -- James

What is the number on the replacement belt?
Have you inspected the torque driver? Deficient clutch bearing example.
