In a thread from years ago, Braveheart wrote "Kkza, I have a Keihin clone 18mm with about 900 mile on it. No problems. I just upgraded to a 20mm. This shoud fit if you have a 139QMB 50cc engine. How is it possible to change the carburetor to a different size? Won't it be too loose for the manifold? I'm confused. I thought mine was 40mm intake and 28mm output, on a 50cc TaoTao. thanks.

Thanks, Tortoise, that explains it well. Very interesting.
But now another question has raised its head. The carburetor I was about to buy says 40" from air box and 28 to the manifold. Since everything else looks the same, can I assume those are same dimensions I have, or do they vary and I should take my carb out partially to actually measure it?
I guess that's obvious now, but I'm a little slow, and I thought they were all the same.
