I now have a scoot with a 139qmb engine in that does not want to start. I have flushed out the fuel tank, verified flow through the fuel lines out of the tank, through the filter, and the fuel is pumping from the vacuum operated fuel pump/ petcock. Brand new carb with electric choke, adjusted valves to .oo4I/.005E, cranked engine and re-verified clearances. Pulled spark plug cap and checked for spark at new plug, I can not get the old plug out because the frame runs right in front of the plug and I can not get a socket in there. I had it running yesterday after much cranking and it ran great once it was running. Compression is good as well. Haven't been able to get the plug out to do a proper check, but using the kickstart by hand I can hardly get it past compression stroke. Plugging the throat of the carb with my hand also isn't helping. Brand new battery as well. Oil is at an appropriate level. Anything I may be missing?

JL50QT-15 is what is on the model identification tag. It says ZScooter on the body panel. Is that the info you were looking for?

Have you tried putting the socket on the spark plug first, and then putting the wratchet on the socket?

Have you tried putting the socket on the spark plug first, and then putting the wratchet on the socket? This^ Looks like the only 2 things left to rule out are the sparkplug, and the grounds, double check your grounds, most starting issues I've had and seen are electrical related.

Tried that too, had a "short" deep well socket that wouldn't fit either.

I got it started, finally. Don't think that the problem is resolved though. I will have to let it cool down and check again. One thing I noticed that I am wondering if it matters, is that when the engine is idling there is only 12.5 volts at the battery, shut off it is the same, even revving it up I think I saw 12.6V once. So I am thinking there is a no charge situation. (1) what would that be, voltage regulator? (2) would that have anything to do with the hard starting?

I'm surprised you can even get the boot off of the plug. Maybe the fan shroud is in the way. They seem to fit different on every engine I've had.
Strange. Sounds like a serious design flaw if you can't get the socket in.

You should be getting near 13V readings when the scooter is idling, looks like your stator is not working, or most likely, there is a bad cable or connector causing issues, check all the contacts and continuity on the stator cables.
