It was a year ago that I ordered my Tao Tao Quantum 150 from Family Go Karts.
In that year, I have dutifully changed the motor and gear oils.
In that year, I have not had one single problem with this scoot.
It has carried me back and forth from work everyday without fail, have run it on errands without fail. It has never once let me down! Not once!
Woohoo!!!! I am one happy camper with this scoot!

Congrats! Ride her in good health! Out of curiosity, did you have Family Go Karts do a full PDI/assembly before shipment, or did you do it yourself? Or both?

Did you find any significant issues, or change out the carb, etc.?

Did you find any significant issues, or change out the carb, etc.? Nope....it still has the factory carb, spark plug, coil, etc.

We're being "punked" Everyone KNOWS you can't ride a Chinese scooter down the street, let alone a whole year without a breakdown or at least parts falling off it!......or can you?

I put about 14,500km (9009 miles) in less than 2 years (a few months shy), on my 139qmb engine with the 72cc big bore (aka 80cc)-- full throttle everywhere, including from pretty much every stop sign/light. Maxing out over 45mph (49/17 tranny gears) for quite a stretch everyday to and from work. Until the engine just couldn't handle it anymore.
That's NOT that bad of a thing either. My engine(s) take a beating doing things that aren't what normal 50cc to whatevercc little engines do. Used and abused but for a cheap engine, it's not a bad deal really-- even if I have to either rebuild or buy a new engine every year-and-a-half or two years.

Right on! I have a 50cc TAO TAO and have had it since 2013 and im bout to make the 1k mark myself.I dont ride long distances much.
And surprisingly The battery that came with it is still the one running it right now! It has died, but I just add water and Charge and it holds charge for weeks on weeks. But since I just bought a new 150cc bat Last night on Amazon for my other 150 scoot, Im gonna put the one from the 150cc in the 50cc even though It doesnt seem to hold charge, ONLY AFTER 2 MNTHS! cheap DUD jap battery's, Im thinking of trying the water trick again and see how that goes, If no go, O well Need to buy a new one for the little guy anyway..
Keep on SCCOTIN

Have you ever changed CDI's with a Performance racing CDI(No rev limit) ,new coil and spark? It actually does give it a nice get up and go!

Yea riding is great most the year here in Sout carolina as well.
I dont live far from HILTON HEAD ISLAND(Not sure if you have ever heard of it or not) But the beach is great to go to and a nice 150cc scoot is perfect for riding to places like that.
I use my scoot more than my truck! I go to the grocery store etc on it. Its perfect and this is my 3rd one, first was a 50cc tao tao, 2nd was a 150cc pro eagle from powerrideoutlet which I loved but I ended up getting in a bad wreck on it.
Now my 3rd one the one in MY pic is the most smoothest riding one I have had yet! All I do Is take out the factory CDI(NO REV LIMIT, gives it a bit more power on take off and top end speed) coil, spark plug, and I install a racing performance CDI with a Better quality coil and better brand spark plug. I have always used Synthetic oil in my scoots. Ppl say the reg kind is fine but I still go with syn, And only run the highest grade gas in them.
The 1st 2 I had NEVER got 70MPG+ like everybody claims, But my new one Which is manufactured by Kaitong and Put together with YIMAN parts which from my understanding are good quality, It actually does get a huge amount of Mpg like scoots r suppose to. I can put 2 bucks or so in it and give it half a tank and ride a good week or so.
You should look on ebay or Amazon an think about switching out CDI's to a Norev limit, U would be surprised the difference it gives.

Or you can leave it stock, as some of us do. I'm an old school kind of guy.....if it ain't broke...don't fix it. Into the 5th season with my (breakdown free) Chinese wonderment, it is now at 9510 miles with all original ignition components, always starts on first bump of starter button, idles, runs, and pulls hills great. The mileage in the Fuelly Banner below, covers the period from April 2014 through now. Well over 6000 consecutive miles and 60 some fillups, you can click on the banner for more details. Just filled it again today......91.6 miles, took 1.035 gallons, = .5 mpg. This is with the original NGK, standard copper core plug. Not saying I haven't modified anything......as I do run a K&N air filter, and a 115 main jet, just saying you don't really need a bunch of fancy parts to have a well running, dependable scooter.
