Saw this ad on craigslist. I think I have to buy it, really. It's not far away from me: KI'm selling my 2012 Dash 50 scooter, it has a new battery and starter, there's something electrical wrong with it, I've probably spent 10+ hours on it. It works fine though, it ran on the 23rd I took it out for a spin but ran out of gas and when I went to get more about an hour later it wouldn't start up, I put about half a tank in and still won't start, and eventually the battery ran dead, I'm too poor and don't have enough patience to try to fix it any more. It's only missing the left fairing, the left mirror and a few screws/bolts (nothing serious). give me a call or a text with an offer and I'll get back to you asap. It has a clean title.Hopefully nothing too crazy electrical. I'm kinda hoping it's the valves for the no start problem. southbend.craigslist.org/mcy/5554708812.html

Sounds like a can of worms and overpriced for a Dash 50. $50 or $100 tops maybe since that new starter is probably close to being toast already.

My opinion is, if he's managed to lose the left fairing and mirror and "a few screws/bolts nothing serious" then what else has he lost or done to it in his obvious lack of caring for it? How the heck do you lose the fairing? Or do you think he wrecked it and pulled the damaged pieces? Which would still warn me this guy didn't take much care of this bike.
Heck, offer him the $50 first, let him dicker you up to $100.

I agree with what the others said. No telling what the problem is and how much time and money to fix. Plus it sounds like it's been in an accident. Even for a 50 cc scooter it sounds like it's one of those too good to be true type deals.

Thanks for the replies as usual.
I'll contact the guy tomorrow, so hopefully he still has it because I won't get to do anything until Wednesday. I may just stop by his house and take a look at it. It doesn't look horrible in the pics at all, body wise-- minus the fairing, even if he did get in an accident. I'd still like to see it in person and ask a few questions.
I can use quite a few parts from that scoot since it is the same exact body (maybe some minor differences) and engine as mine, (just a different color) especially the dash panel(s), seat latch/bucket, and the whole tail light assembly. A lot of little things to loot from that scoot if I decide to. Like I said though, I can't tell a lot from just pics.
It'd be nice to have an extra scoot to toy with!

He said the electrical "problem" is that it wants to start but it won't, so he put a new starter and battery on it. I bet it's nothing major.
It's some guy's son's scoot.
