Which style fuel petcock . . tank bottom or frame mounted?
Have you pinched off the vacuum line to troubleshoot a deficient petcock diaphragm?

frame mounted petcock and where the line comes from the tank through the filter into the petcock where it leaves the petcock to go to the carb it has a slight drip leak out from there. would that cause me to lose power going up hills and have a bit of a idle problem. If it is not raining in the morning i am going to try and get a video of what i am talking about on my scooter as far as throttle let off give more and it sputters for a split second. Where i notice most of my problem is going up a hill it wants to cut out really hard.
If i decided to go to a manual shut off instead of the vac petcock what would i do with the air hose from the petcock to the carb? should i just close it some way and is that the only line i have to close up thanks for the input.

You say cap the vac. Do you mean cap it right on the carb or cut the line short? And what would you cap it with? Also would this help my prob with cutting out going up hills?

caping location depends if you need vacuum for anything else on the scooter, if not at the manifold. I don't know about about up hill problems.
did this thing sit unused?

Posting multiple threads on the same issue segments the discussion and hinders finding a solution.

I replaced the carb, air box, plug, fuel hose, vac hose, and put new gas into it.
when i got the scooter from the guy nothing was running on it. I then put plug into machine gas new lines, and got it running. Just like 2 weeks ago replaced the carb and ever since then i have been losing power when going up hills.
my valves are set to .006 exhaust .004 intake i have no idea what else could go wrong.

.006 which is .15 mm and then .004 which is .10 mm
Yes i have the old carb still, and i am useing stock air box and muffler.
this is what it sounded like when i first woke up this moring. Since then i have changed the fuel lines again, i want to go to a Manuel shut off valve but am confused on where to cap the vac line that. And now i have the carb off and i am going to replace the float needle on new carb on the old carb and adjust the a/f screw all the way in and then back out 2 1/2 turns with the new needle and float and diaphragm because the diaphragm on this new carb is not sitting right and i feel it could cause problems.

I set my valves at .004 inch for both. The engine sounds like its noisy. What weight oil are you using and what is the temperature where you live/ride. Open the old carb and see what size jets you have. If the engine is a secret 63 and your jetted for 50 you might be lean causing performance problems. How does the spark plug look?

to convert to manual if you have a two hose fuel cock remove it from the tank and drill the inside hole dont g streight throgh the bottom
Next you can buy a small clamp and hose cut the vaccum line if its a clear type off the bike slip on the hose add a clamp to the tip of the inlet then heat the open tip with the tank empty on the clear line enough to where it turns to glue without burning it get needle nose pliers and squeeze it shut like a pixie stick tip block off the vaccum at the carb with the same proceedure and done.
before you mount your lines figure out here it has the least flow when you shut of your line a hair should look like the fuels backing up when turning it close to the off position. WALLAH manual petcock.
stick it in a close position to where your hand can fit under the body when necessary never turn the cock fully off just enough to show back up when engine stops. dont fully zip tie the clear hoses as after heating for a long period of time they collapse.

I am using 10w-30 full synthetic oil. The temp was cold like the mid 30's morning time to mid 60's afternoon. Now we are getting into the 70- range temp wise. My plug is black the guy at the store said it looks like its been running a little rich? Im not totally sure. Seeing i tore the diaphragm on this new carb here i will be putting the old carb back on tomorrow lol and hoping like heck it works. As far as switching to Manuel shut off valve i have a line coming from tank into filter then into the petcock, out the the petcock to the carb. then my vac lines runs from the petcock to the intake elbow. If i do go Manuel instead of the vac petcock shouldnt i just take the petcock off and put the Manuel one there and just take and cap the vac line right there at the intake spot?
