As the subject says, something that holds the packing in place seems to have come loose now it's spraying white fuzz whenever i twist the throttle. Obviously I need to replace it, but for the meantime will it be ok to ride?

Well pretty much My entire innards came apart. It got really hot and baked the rubber mounting straps Sorry not a great pic. This is also what I found when I dropped the Pipe, the Flange off center, Flashing and a big goober of Weld, probably 30% of the Exhaust port was closed

If you do not want your ride to last long then ride it anyways, but if you care about your ride this wouldn't even be a question. If you have a problem, do not ride it unless it is to diagnose that problem. Replace the muffler, I usually go on craigslist and post an ad to look for one and get them cheap like $20 a pop, sometimes they are slightly rusty but can be brushed off with a wire brush and painted with rustoleum. If you do not want to refurbish a muffler then get a nice one from scrappy's.

If you really don't want to buy a new one I have an identical muffler in great shape I bought secondhand and refurbished myself but was never able to use because I do not have the mounting equipment. PM me if you wanna buy it off me.

Oh no don't get me wrong I always want all my stuff in top working order. I didn't explain my question correctly. What I ment was will it be ok you ride a few times before the new one comes. It's my work transportation and my wife needs the car this weekend. I just want to be reassured that I'm not going to do irreversible damage from a few rides.

Do what you have to do really, but avoid riding it if you can, though it may not be too bad as long as there isn't a leak, but isn't it loud?

Ride it I did just baked the Rubber till it was brittle and fell apart, sat there and smokes after shut down for awhile. Wont Hurt a dmn thing other than the above. I was gunna drive a long spike through the thing but couldn't find anything, Shooting it with a gun up the butt almost happened The Worst that may happen is it clogs itself up and won't run, Shoot it with the Gun

Well the seller I got it from will only sell the whole set and I don't want to end up buying a muffler that doesn't fit the header so I think im gunna see if I can cut it open and weld the broken piece back and repack it
