There is a 2006 Vento Phantom 150 on my local Craigslist - treasure.craigslist.org/mcy/5231065827.html - asking $1000. Has 2000 km (supposedly). Seems to be immaculate. Is it too old to consider? Or too unreliable? Opinions on Vento?

I posted 2 discussions regarding a Kymco Agility 125 and this Vento Phantom 150 that are on my local Craigslist that I am considering looking at - the Kymco seems popular, although I am slightly concerned about the 8620 miles. However, although this Vento has only 2000 km, it IS 9 years old. Should I even bother looking at it? Is the 2013 Kymco Agility 125 with 8620 miles a much better deal?

2006 would be in the range of the trouble years for quality issues and $1,000 is too close to the price when new. They were really pushing them out in 2006/2007 so they had a lot of trouble with bad engine castings and frames.
Blue Book on those in Florida from a dealer with some type of warranty is only about $750 and about $500 from a private party.

Thanks, rockynv! The scooter is at a recently-opened scooter shop down here - he sells only 50cc and under right now in terms of new scooters, but has this one "on consignment" - and it is $1000 OBO. What should I ask him about in terms of things that should have been replaced, and about the history of the scoot? Obviously, it sat for some time...
Maybe I can get it for $700-$800...?

Check for oil leaks and such. One of the weak spots can be gas inclusions in the head casting which can show up as oil weeping through the casting in the timing chain area. If you tighten the two bolts on the side of the cover past just barely tight then you can end up cracking it completely through requiring the head to be replaced. I would aim lower unless it was in really great shape and he was offering at least a 9O day warranty. With less than a 9O day warranty then $400 would be the offer if its not leaking any oil.
