An interesting article on the ever improving quality of Chinese scooters. (Being driven by competition with India, and the banning of motor bikes at home) and why the Chinese felt no need for dealer support (Up to now.) www.chinamotorrider.com/leaps-made-chinese-motorcycle-quality/A video of the Mahindra (India) Gusto scooter.

Holy curried wombat! I like that Mahindra!
I knew Mahindra made great TRACTORS but had not seen their SCOOTERS! THAT one has some great features. That height-adjustable seat will be VERY popular with the ladies. Lots of other innovative features too. Mahindra farm equipment is already popular in America, so if these scoots get imported they should be well-received.
Time to trade in the old family elephant!

"No worries, mate"...
Washington will just give China a dozen trillion bucks more to subsidize them, and keep the prices down. America NEVER seems to learn, but, at least it provides cheap scooters... and all sorts of other goodies we dote on... LOL!
You can ALWAYS count on the U.S. government to do EVERYTHING possible to ensure jobs and production ALWAYS go to those who hate us most... If China ever gets truly wise to our idiocy, they'll foreclose on the countless trillions in unsecured debt incurred by a certain president whom will remain "nameless" and then, scooters made in America WILL actually be made in China... Cheesh!
Ride 'em if ya got 'em...

I noticed a big increase on scooter prices recently here, I bought mine new a year and a half ago at $900, one with the same specs is now $1500, we have a free trade agreement with China (lower import taxes and stuff like that) which means that they should stay cheap, not sure if manufacturers are pricing them higher or our local motorcycle dealers cartel got greedy and decided to raise the prices.

The fit and finish on the Indian scoots is pretty high. (Think Genuine Stella) If the Chinese start upping their game in order to stay competitive, you might want to think about grabbing that next scoot now rather than later.

I wish we had some dealer support in the states for the CF Moto 650 NK. I see them for sale on occasion on craigslist.

I once had a factory rep tell me " We sell more scooters in Nigeria than we do in the whole US. With the hoops you have to jump through to become certified in the US, do you blame most companies that decide to forgo the USA? "

Scooters in the US must compete with all the new Under-500cc bikes introduced in the last ten years. It was easier for scooter dealers when they were only competing against the Ninjette, Rebel and GZ 250.

Global Warming is a myth.......... That's what some folks say.
Now try and pass EPA/DOT regulations with a new vehicle of ANY type.......
A cheap easy to fix mode of transportation is not going away anytime soon. Dealer markup and Warranty exemptions are only a small part of the problem......
Any kid can build a car, The issue is how others can profit though..... You can get a Ticket/ Fine for riding a bicycle on the sidewalk for example.
The System is broken unless you can make a quick buck for other people........ JMHO
Trying to make a living yourself has become almost impossible without paying off the people already making money.....
China/ Japan/ India/ Australia/ Russia, all have different rules. Add in Canada/ USA/ Mexico/ and most of Europe, it may seem almost impossible to make a good vehicle that meets all the standards at a decent price point.
Sorry for the rant but, although getting from point A to B has never been easier, Getting to point A has never been harder...........
