Hi. This is my first post ... just joined. My speedometer quit working a couple months ago. I've recently changed both tires on my Jonway 49cc. When I was all done changing tires, I noticed I forgot to put that little metal tube back in the front wheel. Now I'm wondering, is that why my speedo stopped working? I can't remember if it happened then or later. Only being a 49cc, I've got little reason to look at the speedo but now I'm getting it ready to sell.

The little tube is a spacer that keeps the wheel indexed in the forks correctly

WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you intend to sell, it maybe a decent idea to have the actual Miles/Kilometers listed in the ad... Or expect some negotiation on the price point Is it possible the "TUBE" not reconnected was in fact the Odometer/Speedo Puck connection? That would make sense IMO. Is there a wire of some type inside that Tube? What's going on with the tube now? Is It just hanging out, Or, was it removed? Heck, knowing the top speed could be a selling point.... Anyways, GOOD LUCK!!!!! Keep us updated and Have fun out there!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Cyborg. Do you know the answer? Does the speedo not function without it?

How long is it,,,a pic would help,,,,most likely it's an axel spacer,,,,oh and welcome to the forum,,,hope you get another one after this one sells and you hang out with us,,,double OH ,,does the little tube have 2 tabs on it? If so it is the speedo drive ring and yes you need that to "drive"the speedo cable

If you still have the tube then put in back or purchase a replacement for it and set it right. If its the axle spacer then the front wheel probable wont engage the speedometer drive very well and not having it can lead to a safety issue so you do not want to ride without it nor do you want to sell a bike potentially made unsafe by a step you missed during maintenance.
