Anybody run a little 2T oil in their 4 stroke on those hot days? Just wondered if it is smart, sure is tempting.

Why? 4 stroke engine pistons are lubricated already

Hot Hot weather and 7300 rpms, just a thought You are Aware that in a Fixed Jet Carb, Adding Oil Makes Her Go Lean? Adding Oil i.e. Pre-Mix.

I have used gas premixed with 2 stroke oil to a 50:1 ratio in my 4 stroke once when I ran out of gas on a trip and the only options to get to the gas station were to use some of a friends premixed gas or push it 2 miles. It was a very small amount of gas, maybe half a water bottle worth, didn't cause any damage or anything weird. I would only do it in an emergency like that though, I wouldn't run with it all the time. If it was good for 4 strokes then 4 strokes would be using it already, but pistons and everything are lubricated and cooled by the oil in the pan. Adding oil to your gas will also shorten the lifespan of your spark plugs, they will foul.

Ive had left over two smoke gas that went in my cars to garden tractor. no biggie and these days were at 50:-1., back in the day 20:1 Without Re-Jetting it Will Run Hotter. And I'm not going to open the can of Detonation from Oil consumption. Lets Glaze the Cylinder while were at it too.

It generally will have the opposite effect that you are hoping for and make the engine run leaner and hotter. It also has the potential to foul spark plugs and valves. Remember too that two strokes have a different type of muffler and exhaust porting that requires decarbonizing as part of regular maintenance or they will plug up causing the engines to run hotter and loose performance.
Save the 2 Stroke oil for the 2 Stroke motors and run a better grade of oil in the crankcase in the hot weather. You will be better off in the long haul and have fewer problems.

Thanks all for advice. I had accidentally opened up 2 quarts of premium 2T oils and figured, why not but it is kinda silly an idea. BTB.. I did use Lucas gas additive in Colorado and I think it is what ate away at the outer portions of my throttle body, got erratic behavior from that. I'll stick to good oil alone. Now I have to clean TB 2 times a year or replace for $300.00. Forget upper cyl lube, not worth a gritted combustion chamber, piston crown and fowled plug perhaps for starters. Thanks for responses. Love scoot talk though. It's time for 2 months of scootin here in MD!!! Ride safe Ride all

Way more fun ridin than wrenchin.... Once I needed to mow the lawn but had no gas other than 40;1 weed-eater gas. My mower NEVER ran the same after that.
