Greetings! Just joined to get some intelligent advice... ;-) On my local Craigslist, there is a 2007 JCL MP-250A (link to what it is - www.jclusa.com/SCOOTER---MOPED-250CC.htm - not the Craigslist ad) with less than 2000 miles on it. First owner had it stored for awhile, it would appear - current owner has had it about 2 months. Claims it is "too much bike" for him, and is looking to buy a 150cc. Both master cylinders have been replaced, recent tune-up, oil change, replaced the front shock and back tire. He's asking $1500 now - put it up about a month ago at $1900, price steadily dropping since then. What do you think of the scoot and the price he's asking? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and knowledge!

You'll find many scooters with different names have mostly the same running gear with different plastics. 2000 miles is perfect, everything's been broke in and the bad parts identified. Make sure you take out for a thorough test ride including top speed and hill climbing. There's one out there for you, make sure it's the right one. Prices vary from town to town, 1500 is a 'good' price here but may be a bit high in other area's, depends on saturation. If you're in Florida offer him 1100, see what he say's.

Here is a pic from the ad - alas, not really a Yamaha - but, he does not advertise it as such... Thank you for your thoughts!

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and knowledge! I own two of these scooters, one is my wife's and it's a 07 250A and mine is a 08 250B both red both identical just called different names. I see this one has the linhai and I would ride it open it up and see how it feels. I've put a speedometer cable on mine and I put taller windshields on both of them along with saddle bags on mine. Other than normal things, tires, batteries and normal maintenance when needed I've done nothing but ride the snot out of them. Got over 12k on mine with all original electrical on it and never put a wrench on it. It's 8 years old, not worth a penny over $750 and I find it funny he put Yamaha on the side. There are a few new 2012 models still floating around: www.extreme-scooters.com/pagekx.htmThe JCL 250A and the Roketa 250B are the exact same scooters JR

Thank you for your answer. There is also a 2013 Kymco Agility 125 currently on my local Craigslist - he's asking $995 (claims book value is $1150, so "a steal at this price!". Has 7500 miles on it - looks to be in good shape.
Question - is a 2007 JCL 250cc with less than 2000 miles a better deal than a more used, but newer, Kymco Agility 125?
NO.

i found my 250 (honda clone) at $1000 with less than 100 miles on it. the owner got rid of it because it had the original vacuum fuel valve and it wouldn't stay running at a constant speed, he had to keep closing the throttle and slow down. once i ironed out all the problems with it, it was a really fine machine. the very first thing you need to do is to replace the spark plug with an iridium one. expensive but definitely worth it.
a bit of wisdom about these chinese rides, what i've noticed about mine: the mechanical parts are fairly decent, the frame likewise. the electrical parts and the plastic body parts are the next step up from absolute junk. be advised that all chinese bikes are not the same, your experience will no doubt be different.

Update - the 2007 JCL MP-250A is now down to $1399 - and the 2013 Kymco Agility 125 is now $949 - the JCL with <2000 miles and the Kymco with 14,000 km (about 8680 miles)...

floridagull, beenriding, dollartwentyfive, cookees Cookees is right, again I own one of the 250A's and it's a good scooter, never put a wrench on it but it's 8 years old, and in perfect condition and I'd be jumping for joy if someone gave me $1399 for it. I didn't pay but $1550 in 2008 for it new delivered to my door and that was also 4k miles ago. The scooter isn't worth that price. JR
