I just installed a new 150cc on my bike. Got it running and rode it a couple times for short distance. Tried to ride yesterday and as soon as I left the house it died. The only way I can get it to start is to close off the intake side of the carb. Even then it will not stay running. Fuel is getting to the carb, Fuel isgetting in the cylider and it's getting spark. Also readjusted thevalves(too tight from factory). But still no change. Also spark plug smells like gas and feels oily. I ndon't know what else to try. HELP

Since you have to cover the Air intake side for it to run, that means it is running LEAN not enoug fuel.
Turn the Fuel Ratio Screw Clockwise until it stops and then turn it out 2 1/2 turns that is a good starting point. Also what kind of Air Filter is on there, AIR BOX or a Free Flow Filter? Alleyoop

Free flow. I have tried adjusting the A/F screw but it still will just run for a second and then it dies

I`ve got a 49cc scooter. Its hard to start usually after running already. idles rough then idles fine, until you accelerate. Then wont run right for along time.and only at an idle only does it ever run correct.

Found the problem. Fuel was leaking into the intake from the petcock Wouldn't that cause flooding not fuel starvation? Covering the intake when you already have that problem would only make it worse. As long as you got it running thats what really matters. Now get those rings and such in the new motor seated so you can do the breakin oil change and be done with it for a while.

Alright, got the new petcock in last night but still no change. Any ideas? Engine is flooding gas out of the exhaust.

Disregard all previous stupidity. My gas tank was mounted below the carb. Moved the tank and now she runs like a raped ape
