Just thunked a thunk, in the continuing failure to replace the broken pads in my jacket since Fieldsheer doesn't have the elbow or shoulder armor small enough.
Do any of you guys have an old jacket that you haven't gotten around to tossing out, that has an intact removable left shoulder and elbow rubber armor pad thing?

Sorry, don't have any but the armor in my different textile and mesh jackets can be trimmed so you could buy some too large and use a utility knife, I think. Mine is just foam with a thin plastic shell. Just use your old armor as a template for the new armor.

Gotta be a way to save that jacket! What happened to the originals?

Mike, the impression I got from the wonderful Iron Pony Motorsports lady, who was talking with her Fieldsheer rep, is that the armor is very much too big. And I'm guessing not trim-able. FS sent me out a set of Armadillo sleeves...for a very large man since apparently smaller sizes don't exist of that either. You are right though that it's a foam-type thing, not rubbery at all. been, the original armor came in pieces. I got the jacket a few years ago in July, so tried it on (yay it fits! yay it's so cute on me! ) then hung it in the closer. Then didn't get to wear it for various reasons. I decided this summer that I should probably break in the jacket so I can hopefully wear it soon (this was obviously before the dr decided I needed my feet done, sigh). Not wanting to wear around a leather jacket in June, I hit on sleeping with it, like it's one of those body pillows or something. And not wanting to risk goobering the armor, I removed it. Except the left sleeve's came in pieces. SIGH!! That's why I give Iron Pony super kudos--she went way beyond her job description to help a customer who'd purchased one item a few years ago. And Fieldsheer did try to help, albeit not effectively. Our local gear shop didn't have any in their books. I did find one online store that sold a complete set for something crazy--way too much to get the two pieces I need. Besides that they look WAY bigger. The lesson learned here is check over your purchase completely--armor, everything. 'Cause this would've been a total non-issue if I'd done that. SIGH! >'Kat

"Not wanting to wear around a leather jacket in June, I hit on sleeping with it",
When I first got my mesh jacket this spring I liked it so much I wanted to sleep with it, the wife said no. Man I thought we had an open relationship!

Here is some replacement armor to consider: Cycle Gear Alpine StarsLeather Up One Size Fits AllThe Alpine Stars comes in Large (That's Me!) and Small (Could be the one for you.) so there are choices out there. Chances are if the armor is old enough to be falling apart it's not CE3 grade and needs replacement anyways since the Level 3 armor gives you a much higher degree of protection than some of the older standards.
