Ok so my verucci came to life for a brief moment tonight...previous owner had carb diaphragm in with spring inside throttle body area as opposed to inside against the black plastic cap. Now I am dealing with diaphram not lifting and its blocking air way. I can get it started with nearly full throttle and manually lifting diaphram out of the airway. However it is poaring fuel out of the carbs throttle body even with out throttle. I have a keihin carb btw. Why is the diaphram doing this and why is fuel poaring out of throttle and not overflow?

Sounds like a bad float valve allowing fuel to flow out, and a hole or tear or bad seat on the diaphragm preventing vacuum from raising it. In this case, a new carb would be recommended over a rebuild.

Ok the diaphragm was kind of jacked up and was not seated right for eight years.... It did not run the way it was set up before it sat. It only has 319 miles btw and I got it for $100 off craigslist.

Looks about right. With the black cap and low price, it's probably a counterfeit keihin carb. But it should work.

Why would a new carb be better than a rebuild? Because it's old, and when rubber is out of shape (diaphragm seated wrong) for so long, it's hard to get a good seat. As cheap as they are, parts for a rebuild are close to the same price as a new carb. I think you'll do fine with your carb purchase.

Why would a new carb be better than a rebuild? To be honest , I've seen others work to get carbs working properly . they did everything to clean and replace the internals , but no dice. Sometimes a new carb is just worth buying rather then the Hassel of fixing the old one . that's just how it is sometimes.
