Every time I listen to this guy I feel the urge to give up on playing and throw my guitar out the window

How long have you played ? I also play , mostly electric. I play a 97 fenandez strat with a Seymour Duncan distortion at neck , a hotrail in the mid and an invader at bridge. Its an LE1 , they stopped making them in 97 . its made in Japan unlike some of the newer ones that are reproductions.

I play acoustic, electric, bass and resonator, I have a 1964 Fender Musicmaster II, an uncle gave it to me when I was 18 or so (34 now, getting old ) it was my first guitar and I learned to play with it. I put a humbucker on the bridge on mine, it looks like this:

I'll post a pic of mine in the morn . I had a few others I've sold over the years but I'll never sell the this one. I started playing at 16 , and I'm 36 now. My problem is that I have had gaps over the years in which I never picked it up, so I never really progressed to the point where I should be. When it comes to rythme , I can pretty much play anything . i can play slower solos pretty easy , but when it comes to the faster solos , I have a hard time . I've also never learned how to read music. I learned on my own by listening to a song and finding which frets to use. Or by watching a live show , and seeing how the song was played.

I got a record changer going not just any one song however one that sticks in my mind is this Greg Lake tune from almost 50 years ago which he performed on his "Songs of a Lifetime" tour a couple of years ago while closing in on 70:
I still have the 8th Fender F35 made which I bought new about 40 years ago. It was Fenders take on the Martin D35. I had to repair it with a new fingerboard and a Bridge Doctor due to some bad setup attempt by a "Pro" (he took a carpenters plane to the finger board among other things). I need to play more but have not had much time apart for work and chores.

There is usually some wretched Top 40 song I can't get out of my head. I try to replace it with "They call the Breeze" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Many here are probably too young to remember Sabicas:
A player will recognize the mastery of what he does. Normal folks may not get to this level in a life time. He had been playing for about 70 years when this was recorded.
