First of all I’m not very knowledgeable when it comes to scooters (even though I have owned 2 in the past) I just know the basics.
Well I decided not to ship my scooter back to SMART DEALS NOW because the shipping was too expensive. I decided to turn here. I have a new scooter that has been giving me issues for a couple months now . (2014 TaoTao 150cc Lancer)
I ride my scooter to work (6miles) and every morning and it dies while riding there at least once. ( Mostly it seems when I’m accelerating somewhere during my drive it struggles) I have to pull over and about the time I’m coming to a stop it turns off. I can’t restart it right away.. it seems I have to wait a few minutes.(I turn it off and on take off the gas cap try to do whatever comes to mind while waiting) Then It starts up and seems to work the rest of the day.
It appears (but I’m not %100 sure) that it has something to do with the temperature outside. I only say this because I remember 2 really warm mornings where my scooter did not die and one pretty cold morning where it died 3 times.
I have changed the fuel filter, fuel pump and Intake manifold. (thanks youtube) I have even adjusted the idle (as suggested by some scooter guru)
Anyways I have seen some other scooter riders with similar issues, but not exactly the same. I just wanted to ask around before I take it to a local shop for a diagnostic.

It's an easy process. Watch a few videos and go slowly the first time. Everyone afterwards it will be much easier.

Yes, sounds like your exhaust valve is closing up and when you let it sit for a while it cools down and will run .

That's where I'd be starting,,, the valves,,, and when it dies and you remove the fuel cap did you hear air rush inside? Like the fuel tank is under vacuum?

I don't know what your skill level is but what I do is take the carb completely apart and spray carb cleaner in every hole and through the jets, etc. I'd also check that the plug wire is nice and tight on the plug, check the spark, and check the vacuum lines for leaks.

It seems like there is pressure when I take the cap off. Cant tell if the air is going out or in, but deff something there.

There should not be any pressure, positive or negative. The tank should have a vent line, often leading to a charcoal canister that absorbs fumes. If that canister gets clogged or the vent line gets kinked, pressure (+ or -) can build up. As cyborg stated, a tiny hole (1/16") drilled into the gas cap is a common fix for tank pressure issues.

Remove the cap, and find a suitable workspace, before drilling.

i actually think you have a combination problem,,,one the valves are too tight,,and need to be adjusted and second the fuel tank has a venting problem,,,i've also experienced a sustained high speed (such as it is) full throttle vacuum drop so the auto fuel tap closes,,,,shutting off the fuel to the carb,,,so nice when blasting in traffic,,,,that was on my vespa et4,,,,i'm all manual now on all my machines,,choke,,fuel taps, all nanny state sidestand/clutch/brake starter run switches eliminated,,,,man i hate that stuff,,,reminds me of my granma,,,jesus she was a nag too,,,nothing like rippin down a fire road and having your engine shut off mid whoop,,,,cause your sidestand bounced and shuts off the engine,,,,super fun

Anyways I drilled a hole last night. Rode my scooter to work this morning and it didn't die! Woo Hoo! However it could be a fluke, but I have a feeling this has helped. I will have to see if I get the same results tmrw.
