My fuel gauge seems stuck at full. 2015 Taotao cy50-a, 500 miles, new. Any thoughts as to where to start? Tks.

Since it's new, I would contact your dealer. It should be under warranty. If you monkey with it yourself first, that might void the warranty. See what the dealer says and go from there.

I had this happen once. Find a clothes hanger and push the lever on the sensor down inside the gas tank, the needle on the meter should also go down, then the lever will be pushed back up to the top of the gas level by the gas and read the correct level again.
Dealers usually do not catch this issue because they literally only put in enough gas to start it up, if they even do.

howdy, my memory is terrible so if what i'm about to say is wrong, just ignore it. if memory serves, grounding the wire that goes on the float portion of the guage system will produce a reading of full. to check that , disconnect the wire and the guage should read empty. its possible the wire is grounded somewhere which automatically produces a reading of full.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

I took it down to where I could get to what I needed. I started by wiggling the top portion of wires on the fuel sensor and they jumped into position, and then not. Did this a few times and I believe my problem is at the top of the unit where they attach to the unit. I'm full and it reads full. I reattached the seat unit so the wires were in "position" and there was fuel reading. Guess I need to ride a bit to see if things change. Sound about right??

It won't move until you are almost empty, those fuel chinometers are a warning that you are running out of gas, not an accurate fuel reading. Try emptying the tank manually with the ignition on (not the engine, just ignition) and drain the tank, check if the needle moves; do the same when putting the gas back in the tank.

My fuel gauge use to stay at full for a few miles then drop drastically. I found the float was broke and barely hanging on.

Yeah, I pulled it out...hit it with a BDH#1, and re-installed. Didnt work. Seems to be the upper wire conections at the top of the unit.
