Hi,
I have a 80cc motor (GY6 139qmb) on my scooter with a 20mm carburator. Inside the carb, main jet #100 and Pilot jet #35.
I always run with the original air filter (No restriction inside) and original muffler, if i put main jet under #100, the sparkplug always look lean|?
Now with jet #100 look good, run good too.
But i have a question,: Do you think if i put a UNI filter is going to help the motor, or just make more noise???

I'm with Geh333... Go with the UNI....
However, you may want to go up to a 102 or even maybe a 105 if you go with UNI...

This is the picture of the spatkplug after a 5 miles ride! The main jet is a #100!  What do you yhink if i put a main jet ##110? |

I'm running a hoca 52mm kit with a hoca big valve head and uni i run a  in my 20mm carb I go by the way it sounds and runs. I can tell by the sounds and how it behaves if its lean or rich I don't check plugs anymore. Your plug check won't be accurate if you don't run wide open anyways you can just ride and not be wide open and have a lean plug if it's lean at idle or midrange. |

So exactly what liquid is all over your spark plug threads?

Holy sparkplug vermi !! That looks horrible. That thing is white and corroded after 5 miles ? And yeah, what is on the threads?

That looks good. U def have to go up on the jet size with the uni.

I'm going to stay with the original air box, i don't like the sound with a Uni filter....

On the threads it's a spark plug anti-seize, but i stop to use now, somebody said is not very good to use this... This is the plug with the original air box! I'm going to buy main jet #102 and #105 and try again the uni filter later... I have been using a very tiny bit of graphite lube on the base of spark plugs for over a year now with great success. Does not burn up or leave residue, can be simply wiped off the threads, and prevents threads from locking up on the spark plug so it is easy to remove with hand tools anytime you need to, but does not move or cause the spark plug to come out. Try it out, it's also very cheap and one can will likely last longer than your scoot. |

Uni filters good , just keep jetting up till you get rid of the white tipped ( lean ) plugs.
Caramel color is what you want .
Running lean like that will soon roast your valve sealing surfaces like the grand canyon.
Err always to the rich side. Keep it cool at ground zero

Is the 80cc actually the 72cc (some sell 72 as 80)? If so, that big carb must make a huge difference in jetting.

I'm going to stay with the original air box, i don't like the sound with a Uni filter.... It's too loud! If you want better performance , I'd stick with the uni and upjet. Its totally up to you . if your satisfied with the scoots performance then just stick with the stock setup. |
