recently I got an DC voltage regulator and a DC stator. unfortunately I have a white wire on my DC regulator but no white wire on the stator. any idea where I need to hook the white wire from the voltage regulator?

your going to have to probe it. John Originally it came out of the ac stator. Sorry. I meant to put I installed a dc stator in place of ac

May be wrong but it might go to the ignition switch to sense voltage. I had a new pink wire on a new r/r I got and that's where it went. Mine is an ac system so don't know if it would be the same.

could also be a 12v output when the engine is running.

The white wire feeds your auto enricher and whatever else was on that circuit. It's an AC output. I am unsure of the AC output voltage or if it's regulated. However, I'm 99.9999% sure it's an A/C output for your auto enricher circuit.

White wire is normaly 12V AC to the headlight

I'm pretty sure that white wire will measure 12v DC coming out of the regulator when the engine is on. It is probably for the enricher. If you don't need it for the enricher, you can run LED lights off of it. Put a meter on it to make sure, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
