So as I was coming home today my scooter started to act like it had run out of gas, then I start hearing a loud tapping sound. Pull over and scooter of course had died, hit the starter button, and it sounded almost like there was no plug installed. Pushed the scooter the 2 miles home. (why it couldn't of lasted a lil longer ) Pull the plug stick my finger over the hole, hit starter button, and I can feel it has compresion, put not where it should be. So motor is now pulled from scooter, will be pulling the head to see if I burnt a valve or the piston or rings. Dont believe there was any damage to the bottom end, I know I have been running lean, didnt have the money to buy a new carb, was hoping to make it last. So my question is, if I just do a top end I want to do a BBK. Might as well gotta replace the carb and filter anyway. Not looking for anything I would need to modify or crack the case to do, where would a good place be to get the parts from. Or I may just replace the entire motor, and again where would a good place be to get one. TL/DR Blew top end of motor, where to get a bbk kit or a complete motor.

As a side note, I still don't have a lot of money I do not want cheap items but would like as inexpensive as possible, borrowing the money to fix and don't want to take forever to repay lol.

Hi Keikara, A couple of days ago I went and picked a parts scooter off craigslist... The person I purchased it from thought the engine would run cooler if he took off the plastic engine shroud... Little did he know, but the shroud is what actually keeps the engine cool and he wound up over heating his engine and it seized up... He purchased a whole new top end for the engine, took his engine apart but then couldn't figure out how to put it all back together. Anyhow, long story short, I have a whole new top end stock rebuild kit for the GY6 150cc (57.4mm piston kit)..... As icing on the cake, it's a Taiwanese manufactured kit, not Chinese. I also have the head/cam/chain and all the gaskets you would need for the job, etc etc.. Everything you need to refresh your motor to new condition. If your interested, let me know, I'll give the best price you'll find. What is your engine stamp number? The kit I have is for the 157QMJ or the 152QMI.... If you're wanting to buy a brand new engine, I have purchased 3 long and 1 short case from TMS. I recommend this seller. $330.00 to the door and it comes with the Engine, CDI, Rectifier, Carburetor, Starter solenoid and your coil. In addition, they ship fast. within a week you'll have your engine. Long Case $330.00 Short Case $345.00

May I ask why you need to replace the carb, as opposed to rejetting it (which would most likely need to be done on a new carb anyway?)... also what size is the engine you currently have... is it a 150cc?
BBK kits on a 150 don't offer a huge displacement bump (unlike the 50's) and a well tuned 150 will out perform a poorly tuned 150 with a BBK kit.
A new piston, barrel and head are pretty cheap. The engine probably dropped a valve, but when you put it together, make sure you jet that carb, or it's gonna happen again. It's time consuming, but it will keep it alive.
Do it right the first time, and keep asking questions. Uni filter isn't always a good mod either. They run lean with a uni, unless you re-jett. Same with a header.

So got the motor torn apart, as you can see it ate the piston. I have the 157QMJ motor. Reason for replacing carb, is it ran fine for a year and now started to act up, has about 4000 chino miles on it and just want to replace. If by TMS you are referring to T-Motorsports, I did find them and they were the cheapest for the motor, did some searches didn't see anything bad about them as far as the parts themselves, all negative reviews were about the customer service being short or rude, but not about problems with returns or refunds. May just lean towards that seeing as with the miles I have probly going to have to start dealing with clutch and belt and who knows what else.

The quality is good prices are pretty much the cheapest around , free and fast shipping. You will not find a this quality for a cheaper price .

This is just an example of what they have . you get a new bigger better quality head , cylinder kit , cam , plug . check out the valves on that head. m.ebay.com/itm/181713547791. You can get a good quality bbk from them for like $60 .

If by TMS you are referring to T-Motorsports, .............. May just lean towards that seeing as with the miles I have probly going to have to start dealing with clutch and belt and who knows what else. Yes, T-Motorsports... I actually didn't purchase through Amazon, I purchased my engines from their ebay store TMSHelmet. Same prices though..... When I first came across their GY6 engines, they had them listed at $309.99!!! Then they went up to 329.99... That's when I snatched up mine.. Now, they're up to 349.99.... ( Short - LONG ) If you do want to buy a new motor, I would be interested in buying your old block... ( right and left crankcase, timing cover, and crank shaft and transmission).... I would not want clutch, variator or anything from the cylinder up as it would just add weight and disposal fee. I'll pay $100 for the parts I want and you would be able to get your engine even cheaper. * Please note, if the case or other parts are damaged or heat warped, I would not be interested. If they're in "bad condition" such as real bad pitting and excessive grease build up, price would be have to be a little lower as well due to reconditioning work involved... But if they're in "fair condition", I got $100.00 USD for ya.

Over the past week, I've spent about $300.00 with the gy6racingteam... It's a very good source to get scooter parts... - However, they do not sell complete engines.... Great spot to get performance upgrades!

So I decided to just order a new motor got from t-motorsports for $330.00 shipped. $270.00 for motor and $59. shipping. As for the old motor has top end removed starter and all plastics. I do not have access to an impact to remove the variator or clutch. The only damage I know of is the cvt cover it's scratched from when I laid it down. I have no use for it however so if you would take it with theclutch and everything, I would be willing to give it to you for just the cost of shipping. Otherwise I am just going to trash the motor, have nowhere to keep it and wife would have a fit lol. After the new Moto gets here I will have a box to ship it in and we can figure out how much shipping will be and how to take care of payment. Send me a pm and we can work out the particulars.

I bought one from eBay about 4 yrs ago for 300 bucks.
