Yes i believe they are the same if your talking about the final gears like 16/50 17/49 etc i have the 16/50 set it lowered my rpm and i can cruise at less throttle around 40 at half throttle but as far as top end i didn't notice much increase

To get more speed you also need more power to take advantage of the taller gears. That is why I always recommend to only go 2 up and 2 down on a stock motor or a moderately modified motor. Alleyoop

I may have gained a few mph haven't done a speed test in awhile, it did make it more comfortable to ride in town the motor doesn't seem to work near as hard

For all the stuff i done to my scoot its more than enough for in town driving on roads 45 and under i never have to go full throttle on flat ground to go the speed limit or a few over

Yes, that what I really like about putting in taller gears mine I can cruise at 50mph at 5100-5200 rpms which is nothing, I run it up to 60mph back off and it cruises at 60mph at 6100-6200. I have never gotten it past 7K the motor is just purring. Alleyoop

A long case with a 10" rear wheel and unlimited CDI build might make for a cool sprinter/stunt/hill climber...
