I like my scooter alot,,but there is always this kinda gritting my teeth, looking at it from the corner of my eye,,knowing its a chinese work of art..so Im always a bit leery about how its going to treat me,it has not gained my full trust yet,,and may never,,so i cant be too sweet to it. I do wash, degrease, change oil, belt, sliders, lube cables, pivot points, bushings, and all that stuff on a regular basis,,but it aint no Honda! You can say that again. Well at least I have a Honda clone. I miss my Hondas. Great bikes. I'm just stuck in scooter mode right now. Loving the CVT and just the fun of doing something new.

I am not obsessive about looks. I have had this one running since January and I have only washed it once, but it's not muddy here and the rain keeps the dust off. Now that it's warm I see bugs on the windshield. I'll have to get those off tonight. I change the oil when I sense a disturbance in the force, and I am going to check my valves again soon. Now that I have the external valve adjustment, it takes all of five minutes to pop the seat and adjust them. Sweet! I am happy when my scooter is running in top shape. I don't fuss about the detailing. I just want to trust it. I still miss the ride on Scootie though. Definitely superior in handling to this one, but this one's got more giddyup, more trunk space, cool "knight rider" type lights on the trunk, a big comfy seat, and a nice digital dash complete with a clock, handy for knowing how fast I need to drive! As long as it's running good and nothing is broken, I'm good to go.

I need to see some pictures of that,,it takes me at least 45min. to do mine,,the plastics slow me down so much....

The way I read to do it is to put the thing on TDC or whatever and move the little adjusters like .004 or one notch but look at this video and see the easy way to do it while it is running. Yes, while it is running. Amazing. Whoever came up with this idea was a genius.

I don't know if there is one. This is standard on the cf and cn 250's. I need to open one up or get a diagram and see how it works.

over 15,000km and i've never washed my scoot. i do change the oil every 1,000km but other than that i just ride. thought i would add to this... when i had my 50cc i was tinkering with it at least every other week. anytime i noticed a slight change in performance i would adjust valves, carb and/or cvt. it was a constant battle to maintain top speed. now that i have a 150cc i rarely do more than basic maintenance. i rarely push it past 45mph so i really don't notice when it is under performing and losing top speed. today it isn't running well so that's what reminded me of my constant tinkering with the 50cc. time to open my tool box.

That is really cool,,I remember adjusting valves on my old 1974 Opel Manta field car that way,,my dad had a special valve cover that was cut open only at the top so you could reach the adjusters,,the sides where pretty high so not much oil would splash out,,we would adjust them all by ear..was so awesome,,I was 10 years old,,back in 1980.

Scheduled maintenance by the book. Wash it when I have time if its dirty enough or it looks like it needs a reapplication of wax to keep the paint from burning off.

Not sure how that external valve adjuster would work (at least on a scooter). How does one loosen the nut; then loosen/tighten the tappet while it is in motion? I would think that anything flexing at RPM (if actually attached to the adjustment system) would fly apart forthwith.... lol Gotta see how this works out. On to google hahahaha Edit: I don't get it: Must be overthinking. Please make a video. I'm baffled.

The rocker arms are simply mounted on eccentric shafts which you can adjust from the side of the head.

Did you already watch the video posted above? Yeah I watched the vid. Just need to see the mechanics of something like this to wrap my head around it. It is not obvious in the video. Not doubting: Just baffled.
