Great post just like what oil to use, for the last time you do NOT have to use octane if you do not want for your scooter motors period. You can use any octane you want from 8? to period and that is the truth. If in your mind you feel better getting then go for it, if you feel better getting 87 then go for it BUT DO NOT believe anyone that tells you that you need octane in your lawn mower motor. Alleyoop

Alleyoop Finally , that's what I've been saying . it is a choice . I was never stating you have to use . I was stating why I use . read my other posts in all the octane threads . some use 87 with no problem , and some say it caused problems . some use , some don't . it is a choice in which all have to make . i take both sides into consideration and made a choice finally thank you alley , lol.

Such a lively debate here. This is just how it happened; the engine acted funny, like it was hiccuping randomly. It did seem to go faster but also seemed like the speed was being slightly erratic like it would slightly slow down when it hiccuped but then keep going and speed up again. I removed the gas and replaced it with , the hiccuping went away. Could have been related to the 87 in it, or maybe not, hopefully it was not something else though... But for now I have the old gas sitting in a gas tank in my basement for when we get completely buried in snow lol... Could be useful to give to a neighbor with a snowblower.

Could have just been bad gas . and that's one reason I use . never had bad gas when filling with .

Of course I push it , I've been using the whole time I've had my scoot , I've let it set in the tank for over 3 months with no issues , but I will never say u can't use lower octane. I posted the reasons I push it . lol thanks again alley .

I see some people are debating this issue, so no-one bother to quote or reply to me in this thread. I'm going to state my thoughts on the matter, if you disagree, more power to ya but I'm not going to debate what I know as fact. Fact: Higher Octane burns cleaner, Allows higher RPM's and it burns cooler. Everyone of my scooters are stamped saying run premium fuel. Now, my thoughts and opinions. If your out and about and happen to get a gallon of regular (86,87 octane), you'll be fine. Me, I only run Octane. Comparing a GY6 to Briggs and Stratton is silly. Most lawn mower motors have way lower RPM's.

I don't necessarily buy that the info plate is related to China fuels . these scoots are built then the info plates are placed on them according to where they are shipped . just like emissions .

I have to ask which scooters do you have that say to use premium fuel? Which do u have that say use 87 ? You need to learn how to read, DM is stating his SCOOTERS say to use PREMIUM FUEL hundred thousands of scoots, 50s, 150s or 250s+ I have never seen or heard of one that say to USE PREMIUM FUEL. So inquiring mines would like to know maybe there is something I DO NOT KNOW and will learn something new..LOL What I have does not say to use premium fuel. The only thing that I have that requires Premium Fuel is my 1998 Eldorado, I just traded in my 2001 STS which also took Premium and got the SRX SUV which take regular

Well, my scooter has a sticker on the inside of the seat bucket that says use octane or higher. I've seen the same sticker on all my friend's scoots. I'm guessing those stickers are put there by the dealers though?
