If you want to get rid of the EVAP SYSTEM with its Canister and hoses to simplify the Venting of the gas tank and have less potential problems do the following:
1. Disconnect the hose at the CANISTER that is coming from the gas tank.
2. Get a Fuel Filter and zip tie it high on the frame(IT HAS TO VENT SO NO KINKS).
***IMPORTANT*** Make sure the hose is higher than where it is connected to the Tank.
Reason is this, the fuel is sloshing inside the tank and if you overfill it gas goes inside the VENT hose and gas fills up your canister and ruins it. But the real problem is now the Canister is plugged up, the Charcoal is soaked with gas and the Gas Tank cannot vent and if enough pressure is built up inside the tank it may not allow fuel to flow out of the tank to feed your carb.
Do not understand why a simple fix is not done at the factory. Put the canister higher than the Vent Outlet on the gas tank and you know eliminated another potential problem with an easy fix.
3. Follow the VACUUM LINE hooked to the CANISTER BACK and plug it up at its ORIGIN.
4. If the Other hose on the Canister is going to the Air Filter or Air Filter tubing take the hose off where it connects and plug that connector up.
Now you have less hoses and less problems you can put the canister away and extra hoses along with it. Alleyoop

on some scoot like mine the gas tank is set up high so theres really no way to zip tie the evap line higher.
what I did was I just basically plugged the hole there. before I removed line and plugged it I did however close it off then open up throttle on the highway first to see if there would be any change.
the way I did mine worked out great as the little vent hole on the gas tank was enough for venting.
when the storms pass here I can take some pics and post it.
but if your tank is low enough to zip tie higher than I would go that route, that what I was going to do at first but couldn't

here's a post from scootdawg forum that I copied into a word doc to help me at a later time. hope it helps some Ok very simple, leave the canister crap off you don't need it they just cause more trouble than they are worth. 1. Vent from the Fuel Tank-put a FUel Filter on the end of it and tie it up somewhere out of the way. 2. The hose that goes to the INTAKE MANIFOLD is your Vacumm - You need that. A. you need a "T" or a "Y" connector. b. The VACUMM hose connected to the INTAKE MANIFOLD nipple goes to the Bottom of the "Y" Connector or the Bottom of the "T". Then another hose From the Connector goes to your PETCOCK or FUEL PUMP whichever one you have. Then the Hose comeing from the Carb by the Throttle goes to the other OPEN NIPPLE on the "T" or "Y" connector. C. then connect the Fuel Line to the Carb which is coming from your Fuel Filter and from the PETCOCK or FUEL PUMP. The Bent hose on the side of the Carb is a Vent and Air intake hose that stays as is. The Hose at the BOttom of the Bowl is a Drain hose and it just hangs out.
