Started with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in November 1970. My one way commute was 18.3 miles from Torrance to Downtown L.A.. In 1Q71 I bought a house in Gardena (where I still live) -- 14.3 miles one way. About six years later I transferred to the Gardena C.O. -- 2.7 miles one way. In ' I pulled the switch from my Stepper switch, got into O.C.S. in '87, the barn in 139th street, 1.3 miles from home. That was sweet! Also leased. In '89 we moved to an owned complex, 3.6 miles to work, 3.7 miles back home. Until I retired, I was riding/driving less than 4K miles a year. Since I retired I am riding more, about 5.5K miles a year, mostly shopping. Retired I am cooking more, more fresh food, more picky about my food, riding more shopping for dinner. I hear ya!! I just turned 44 in sept,,I have been watching my diet also,,heart disease runs in my family,,been doing lots of juicing with organic fruit,,i do beets, carrots, celery, and apples..MMmmmmmm good stuff,,makes me feel like a million bucks, also alot of homemade probiotics now for the gut,,I need to try and live as long as possible,,I really beat up my body from 1985-2000,,drank enough to kill 12 sailor men,,being a product of the 80's didn't help,,lots of fun though,,but now its time to get healthy..I like to ride my MTB at least 40 miles a week in the warmer season,,that is very fun,,the scooter is top #1 though!!!! Take care my friend! Tom from Jersey..

I hear ya!! I just turned 44 in sept,,I have been watching my diet also,,heart disease runs in my family.... Run? On my father's side every male died of heart attacks, 'cept for Alex who was shot down in Korea. My dad died at age 43. I managed to go to 50 before my first heart attack. If you get unexplainable chest pains just call 911. With mine it was pain high and center, shoulder ache, hmmm... called 911... three minutes later I lost consciousness. Just as the EMTs put the gurney down. Those guys are good. You can die before they arrive, you can die in the hospital, they will not allow you to die in their hands. Medicine is far better than 20 years ago, but one third of all first heart attacks are fatal -- because they did not call 911 in time. Good news -- you have a 0.5% chance of killing on a scooter, a % chance of dying of heart attack. Stress is the killer. The scooter kills stress. The scooter keeps you alive. When people tell you motorcycles are dangerous you can tell them that for those which a family history of heart disease the motorcycles save lives.

I'm doing around 40 miles Filling the tank every other day. Right now it depends on if its warm enough to ride to work, Mon morning i rode home in what according to my weather app feels like 27˚. That said, if i do ride, its a 26 mile round trip, five days a week.

I do about a 15mile round trip a day, more sometimes depending on errands before or after work. With what passes for winter here in South Carolina, I ride regardless of temperature. The only stopper is frozen precipitation. According to my outside reading it is now 37F, today's high will be about 53F. I work outside all day anyway so I'm already dressed for it. David[/i]

I have an mile round trip to work. The only reason I don't ride to work is precip or I have to haul something in like a computer tower (laptops fit in the SYM Citycom!). I've rode as low as 17 degrees. I'm fixing to get on the bike right now and it's 27 outside. I was reading your post and thinking,,wow miles on a china scoot,,thats awesome!! But then I saw SYM...lol

Nowadays I only put a dozen or so miles a day on my scoot. Back in summer I put in over 300 miles a day as a food delivery scooter driver. I have over 30k on my scoot now, BBK'd it after most of the miles, but still love it literally to death! I've rode my scoot to he11 and back and it still keeps pumping that gas!

On average most deliveries were 10 miles away, plus I would have to drive from my last location to the next restaurant. We delivered from everything in the area btw, not just one store, many many stores. Each delivery would be around 15-25 miles, I swear the guy at dispatch just hated me because most other guys only delivered around the stores within like 5 miles... I did get a lot of deliveries each day anywhere between 10-15 deliveries on average, sometimes 20-30 on very busy days. I would also take a lot of double shifts as well to get more money ya know? Most of my work days were 14 hour days, with almost no time for breaks. I guess not 300, but close.
