Which size engine, 50cc, 150cc? I just purchased one of Scrappy's 47mm heads for my 50cc with a 50mm BBK. It is working perfectly, I have no complaints about performance. The casting quality is so-so, plenty of small defects around the edges, doesn't look like the finisher took his time, I cleaned it up a bit, but pretty much put it on as is because I was doing it on the side of the road. Be sure to check your valve height, Scrappy sells both short and high valve heads, and your rocker arms will only work with the correct head (true of all heads out there).
The only things that really makes a difference on a gy6 head are metal quality (not just casting, but metal composition itself, stock chinese heads are often soft metal, hence the need for regular valve adjustments), valve springs, valve diameter, and port matching/flowing. There are very few heads available that have truly been ported on a flow machine, if you find a source for good ported heads, please share it. The better heads will be more expensive, but usually are made of better metal, have better casting, and better valve assemblies.
I would be careful of anything from ebay unless it has been recommended by someone you know or a regular forum member. The vendors in the banner at the top of the page have all been used by members here, most for years, and can be trusted.
Kits are usually a great way to save money, due to combined shipping costs vs paying to have items shipped individually, and they usually are discounted in kit form compared to individual prices as well. Since you are tearing it down, you might want to get some more power with a BBK. Adds about an hour to the job, and is definitely worth it!

I recommend the cylinder kits from " gy6racingteam " on eBay. If you are getting the OEM replacement head for a stock chinese scooter you are always going to pay a little more if you buy it from scrappy or a USA seller. They seem to stand behind the product more than if ordered from China,,but I guarantee you thats its the same quality,,just wont get the customer service and faster shipping if you buy from china. If I where you I would get a Taiwan made head for your scooter,,and yes gy6racingteam has good stuff,,the BBK I just installed is from them and it was really good quality. Check out gy6store out of Denver Carolina,,I got a bunch of stuff from them and its all great quality and prices. John here on the site sells really good parts too...I like to buy a little from everybody,,my main dealers are those three. Tom

Tom Next time I have to order something I'm gonna have to order from john , I'm so use to ordering from certain eBay sellers whom I've never had a problem with , and its hard to go somewhere else .however I've hear nothing but good things from others who have ordered from john , so I'll have to go there next time.

No problem! John is a member here..he is the best when it comes to quality parts,,he tests all of them before he sells them,,this is great because when it comes to CDI's and stuff he will tell you exactly what they do...and if your not happy with them he will take returns.
