Hey guys Im new here Just trying to figure out if my scooter is ac or dc I recently purchased a performance dc cdi but once I put it on the scooter doesn't start, not to mention its like double the side of the stock cdi so Im pretty sure it's ac, but just wanted to make sure It's a 150cc taotao powermac here's a pic of the stock cdi:

sounds counter intuitive but i'm pretty sure the dc cdi's ARE much larger than the ac counter parts, because they have to first invert the dc to ac then back again for spark, ac get to skip that step and are smaller.

All stock DC CDIs I have seen are larger than all stock AC CDIs I have seen.

With key on(motor off) if you have 12volts on the feed wire its DC fired..feed or voltage supply wire is the one next to the ground on the 2 part connector of the plug.If you get 0 volts but about 60- AC volts when cranked then its AC fired from the stator
