Hello everyone, So I received a non running 150cc gy6 engine off a trade and had to put a new engine in it, as well as a bunch of wiring issues. engine now idles great, and has some throttle response. However the guy i recieved it off of did some weird things, and I'm afraid these may of caused the other engine to fail. I was hoping you could shed some light on some of this stuff, also give me some idea of what jets to use. There is a performance exhaust, intake filter, larger carb (which i believe is a 30-34mm?) its rather huge, some weird intake spacer, and the auto choke has been removed. I live in Charleston, SC, so its somewhat warm/hot, and roughly at sea level. The carb at the moment has a 130 main jet. I'm not worried about the choke, as it seems to start just fine at a decently cold night here. Ill add pictures below so you can kinda see what I'm talking about - mind you everything is kinda hanging out due to just having the engine put back in. Exhaust/Intake filter  weird intake space/you can see the auto choke removed.  |

You'll need to post those images to a photo sharing service like photobucket.com and then paste the URLs from Photobucket in the image popup when you post.
You say you have some throttle response, can you describe it or maybe upload a video to youtube and post it here? With all the upgrades, I wonder if the original engine had a BBK on it. Do you have a stock cylinder on the new engine?

Sorry for the late reply guys, was away for the new year. The new engine is totally stock, bought new. I am unsure of the old engine, i did disassemble to try and find out what the issue was with it but never reassembled. everything looked stock to me internally. Ok now correct pictures? Exhaust, Intake  Weird throttle spacer, also you can see the auto choke removal  After the engine warms up it seems to run decently actually, I ran it a bit more before i found a fuel leak on the tank. It does have some misfire at certain throttles. I couldn't check the plug due to the fuel leak, i didn't get a lot of run time before it started smelling like fuel. it idles fine, and seems good at full throttle, areas in the middle it seems to stutter. I'll fix the tank hopefully sometime this week and will give more info if I find anything more out. |

Something to consider, you may want to just pick up a stock intake, stock 24mm carb and a stock air box. You could probably get them to the door for under $50.00.... Once you get everything stock, you can then begin performance enhancements. Other members around here know a lot about tuning a carb and can probably assist... But IMO, it's best to start from scratch. Anyhow, good luck with getting it running and good job on the swap! I'm sure with help from the members around here you'll be able to get it tuned properly. |

Alright guys, just wanted to give you guys a update-issue was a torn intake boot. the bigger carb actually caused a upward pull on the intake boot, which ripped it, im awaiting a larger intake manifold and as of now wrapped it with electrical tape. Anyway, after dialing everything in I wanted to show you what I actually did to the scoot! I used the front end of a 73 honda cb350 and modified the shocks to make them fit, also used the gauges, lights, seat, fenders, and fuel tank off it. front end required a bit of welding, however most other things were small modifications. Rewired all the gauges and lights. Was a bit of work, but I do feel its a one of a kind! Thanks for the help you guys gave in engine diag! (i have yet to mount the front fender, and touching up a bit of wiring!)   Thanks again for the help guys, I'm sure I'll be back for some more help! |

Sweet custom build! You could create a fake engine enclosure under the tank to act as storage, and make it look even more like a motorcycle. Please let us know how the tank mounting works out, that cross member is going to take a lot of force when the scooter flexes.

I am having a issue with the RPM gauge, where would I hook up a electronic RPM? I assume around the cdi? I don't really want to go tapping around and blow the module.  ? if anyone knows what wires I can tap into to get a RPM signal? Thanks! |

Thanks for in info! It does help. However as I went into the gauge to wire it up, and found it is a mechanical gauge. wires are only for the various lights in the gauge. I am now on the hunt for a digital gauge/one i can mount into the old 73 honda gauge set.
