So I have stripped my kickstarter threads, I have a spare lever with good threads and a friend with a gear I can have. My only worry is it only took about a week in the freezing and below freezing weather with good threads to become stripped. I had bought a new one about a month ago and never really used it until the cold really started to effect starting up. I would usually use it at the beginning of the day to get it warmed up then I would use the electric starter until night time when the electric wouldn't have enough juice or it had been sitting so long it was too cold to use the electric with.
I need to figure out a way to prevent this from happening again. I am thinking I would use blue loctite, since it can still be removed with hand tools. I would like to know if anyone else has had this issue or similar issue and has figured out a way to prevent it. I am looking for ideas that will make sure the threads will stay intact and not become loose and strip, but will still be removable if I need to remove the kickstarter. I usually remove the kickstarter altogether in the summer when the electric start works great because it is an added measure to prevent successful starts with common hotwiring techniques.

Don't set it so tight and the threads shouldn't strip out. You can also get a longer bolt of higher quality and put a nut behind it to take the stress off the threads in the casting.

How tight is good? If it is too loose it becomes stripped, if it is too tight it becomes stripped, not sure where the middle ground is haha

You maybe kicking too hard and that helps break them . the longer bolt and nut may help . If you have to kick that hard and that many times . You might want to look into another problem .

Wondering if this is related to your "no-start" condition.
If the timing is off enough it makes it very hard to turn the engine over, as you are having with your electric starter. Any chance that is also causing very hard kickstarts, leading to the stripped threads?
ps: just to make sure: when you say "stripped threads", do you mean the threads of the cinch bolt or the splines on either the shaft or the starter lever?

The bolt itself or the splines on the shaft? Or is it the splines on the shaft after the bolt fails? You may have an out of time engine that has the valves closing up too early on the compression stroke stressing your kick and electric starters.

The lever and kickstart gears threads have been bad since before the no start issue, I mostly use the electric starter. The threads that connect the lever to the gear outside of the CVT case are what are stripped. I just know if my kickstarter worked it would help me diagnose that issue better since I could use that instead of the electric starter which drains power while the kickstarter doesn't, and it's already super hard to start in the cold but once it starts it runs smooth like a beast.

It is both, I have the lever, gear is on it's way. Just want to try to prevent this from becoming a regular thing because I did the same thing last winter too, stripped my lever AND gear threads (where they both connect at the end of the shaft of the gear outside of the CVT case). I am not sure what I am doing wrong. When I tighten the bolt into the lever it does seem to strip the lever somehow as it passes the lever, then when I use the kickstarter it strips and I have to keep repositioning it, eventually it ends up how it is now pretty much completely smooth on both.
