Jim Where are you/?? I'm like Sgt Schultz - I know Noooothinggg!!! But it sure sounds internal to the trans, like a slipped gear/shaft. I'm highly concerned cause I've ordered, not yet received, a new Zodiac, which , I believe , has much the same mechanil 'stuff'. Let's get this fingered out ASAP.

That one has a Straight Axle, and your tranny probably looks something like this: Have you tried to adjust the cable and or tried to move the arm by hand to see if it moves back more. It has a spring on it inside to force it into Forward by default(Spring Loaded). Alleyoop

The new models are not like the old ones. They have been completely redesigned. The tranny is part of the motor assm. with a reall shifter and also they have neutral, to make the throw longer between reverse and forward.
It sounds like you have a bent shifting fork inside the tranny. You don't mention how long you have owned it, is it still under warranty?
IB Warranty Trike products: Parts are covered under this warranty to be free from manufacturer defects for 6 months & engine is covered to be free from manufacturer defect for 1 year or 1500 miles, whichever comes first.

Ah, so now they are like most of the buggies have on the side but they do operate very simliar inside moving a shaft with two gears one on each side with the FORK in the middle move the center part which has cutouts on each side of it to engage the cutouts on the left and right gears for forward and reverse. In neutral the center part sits in the middle of the two without engaging either gears. Alleyoop Like this: And something like this is the Fork which sits in the middle grove to move the center piece left and right or in the middle. And as I said try moveing the bar on the tranny by hand to see if you can at least get it to mesh in the forward position.

still under warranty received it 12/07/2012 but that is how it feels like something is bent because even without linkage hooked up shaft moves but no shift thanks will have to take it apart is any thing going to jump out when i remove the cover because no book for bike makes it hard if something does . THANK YOU thanks for the pics JOE

No nothing will jump out maybe just the spring inside on the shaft that goes in from the top. Other than that it is all gears and shafts, washers etc.. Alleyoop

Hey Jim, I was waiting for you to put something up to give both of the guys a clue as to what they may see and how the shifting inside works. I did not see anything coming and thought well maybe he is to busy and might forget about it so that is why I chimed in.
I found the pictures in my Trike Folder, the first 2 pictures are from you. The last 2 pictures which are close ups and really clean shows all the detail are from MIKE6736(MAGGO) from Florida. I edited the pictures to show what is what and how it works.
MIKE6736(MAGGO) from Florida he has a Magnum 300cc Trike with the independent suspension. He also had trouble with changing from forward to reverse so he just unhooked the cable at the tranny and locked the lever all the way back and does not use Reverse. He said the Trike is very easy to push just like mine. Alleyoop

Hi guys was checking out the shifting an it shifts fine for the first few minutes i shifted back an fwd 10 times no problem then it will not go into fwd if shift fork was bent i should not be able to do this i think , could it be possible that the shaft is heating up one fwd end an coulpler can not slid over shaft? oil is at proper level an right kind. THANK YOU JOE

Well if you notice the way the gears are made it is a tight fit to mesh together and if not right on it is not very forgiven, so when it doesn't want to mesh put your feet down and push it back or forward a little. Alleyoop

I don't have a breakdown of the new tranny yet. You may want to call your dealer to see what he needs or wants you to do for a warranty claim.
