Hello , I m curious how many bought their scooter to save on gas and how many bought their scoot just for the fun of riding one . About 6 yrs ago I went on vacation to sunset beach north Carolina . while we were there my dad and I rented a couple 50cc scoots and I didn't want to stop riding them . a couple yrs later I noticed my brother in law and landlord had a 150cc scoot . it was just sitting in the snow uncovered ,so I asked him if he would sell it . I ended up buying it for $600 bucks but after I bought it I had to buy a few parts to get it running right , so he ended up giving me $150 back . My main reason for buying the scoot was to have some fun riding it. After having it for one season I got that is itch to go faster , not just for fun but to be able to keep up in traffic. This scoot has been one of the best things I've ever bought and Id hate to have to give it up .

I have been on two wheels since 1949, powered since '64. First motorcycle was a Honda Sport 50, no step-thru Cub scooter thing. Looked at maxi-scooters in '2004, slick, practical, but "Nah, can't see me on a scooter."
At age 65, knees ache, after a triple-bypass and a minor (nothing is "minor") stroke, I actually considered a scooter. Rented a Vespa LX150, streets from LAX to Arcadia hitting over 60 mph, hop on the freeway to NoHoScooters to look at the SYM Wolf 150. Look good. But when I went to sit on one the legs said "no f***ing way!" I no longer wanted to swing a leg over a saddle.
So why did I get a Scooter? -- because my legs don't do straddling a saddle no more. Why did I get the first motorcycle, and why I continue ride? Because I HATE being in a cage. Yeah, I love the cheap gasoline, I enjoy riding, but mainly I ride because I am not in a God Damned Cage.

I got it to have something to commute until my 1961 Land Rover restoration is done, after seeing the fuel and time savings, I plan to keep commuting on my scooter even after my Landy is done, it will end up being a "weekend fun car"

I borrowed one from a friend while my car was down and ended up buying a 150cc Powermax for the fun of riding and a daily commuter when the weather cooperates.
Put nearly 4000 kilometers on it this summer alone and I HATED putting it up for the winter. Can't wait for next year!

howdy, I also tried the scooter to see if I could still ride after 8 years disabled. can't swing the leg and even with the scooter I put it on the side stand and get aboard, then straighten everything up and toodle off. but I do ride to the tune of 8,000 miles a year for the last 5 years. i'm on the scooter cause I can't think of anywhere better to be----
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken
