Hello all,
First off, thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully help me out.
I have a 49cc Eagle Pony scooter and am having trouble with the starter. There are no sounds at all when the brake is pulled and the switch is pushed. It will kick start just fine and runs well. The brake lights work when it is on and off with the key in the on position. I tried recharging the battery first but that didn't help anything. I also tried replacing the battery with a known working one (friends scooter) and got the same results. When the scooter is on and I hit the starter button the starter spins so I know the button is good. I can still hear a clicking sound when pulling the right brake leading me to believe that it is good as well. All lights work just fine and the fuse does not look like it's blown. Any help is greatly appreciated. I will also note that the starter worked great for a couple weeks and it just stopped working overnight without me messing with anything.
Thank you!

If you hear a clicking sound when you squeeze the break and push the start button it is most likely a bad SOLENOID. To verify Find your Solenoid it will be close to the battery and JUMP THE TWO TERMINALS with a screwdriver. If it spins your starter the SOLENOID is bad. Alleyoop

There is not any clicking when the starter button is pressed. This is what is baffling me. I was talking about the switch when you pull the brake in clicks. Just trying to say that I think the brake switch works.

Which could still mean you may have TWO problems instead of one. If it clicks when you squeeze the handle it would mean the Solenoid is ALREADY GROUNDED and it would click when juice is applied.
So I will say again jump the Solenoid and you will find out really quick. Alleyoop

Got around to doing this this morning. The scooter started well when I jumped the solenoid. Gonna go grab one later today or monday and hopefully that's the extent of the problem. Thank you for the quick reply.

The solenoid went bad again... I did some research to try and find out why it would fail twice in such a short period of time but couldn't find anything. Any suggestions? The brand new solenoid only lasted about 1 week.

Its common for a batch of part to have bad ones in it. Thankfully a selenoid aint to expensive. If you can, swap it back for a good one where you bought it.

Cranking and Cranking to get the motor to start will heat up the Solenoid and will cause problems. Also if the WIRE from the POSITIVE post of the battery is a thin wire NOT GOOD it has to be a thick wire otherwise to much resistance. Other than that you either have bad connections or a unlucky and got a bad part.
Take a picture of the SOLENOID maybe we can see something that is causing it. Alleyoop

Every thing looks good except that SOLENOID looks kind of wimpy to me not what I am used to seeing like the picture of the one I put up. If it goes bad or is bad get a different one from a different place. Alleyoop

Keep all the conections away from any metal or anything that might ground it out.also make sure all wireing is ok.
