I was riding my scooter when suddenly the scooter died. Try staring it back it, get the continuous "ree ree ree" of the starter. Pull down the throttle while trying to start it and get a "thum thum thum" sound. Checked the fuse near the battery and was still good. Nothing from the kickstart either. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? Scooter has only 34 kilometers on it.

Look and see if all of your gas and vacuum lines are connected, and make sure there is fuel in the tank. If all looks good, test the spark, either with a spark tester or by pulling the spark plug, putting it in the spark plug boot, and touching the plug end to the valve cover or head while cranking it to see if it is producing a spark. If you are NOT getting spark, then we can look for electrical issues. If you ARE getting spark then we can look for fuel and compression issues. Get back to us and let us know what you find out. In the mean time it wouldn't hurt to put a charger on your battery to keep it ready for use. Tao tao's are known to have a tight valve lash from the factory. There r youtube vid's online. With only 34 K on it this could be your issue. I like the setting of .004 on top (intake) and .002 on the exhaust. The lower valve. Also because it is new do a complete PM.

I kinda forgot to mention one detail. Just before the scooter shut off, I was getting a lack of response from the throttle. I would pull the throttle and it felt delayed. I'm gonna look over the scooter in a few hours and see what I can find out.

Just checked the spark plug. No spark. I noticed a nearby connector with a green and black with white stripe cords without a female connector. Most likely for an accessory I'm assuming. Where should I go next since it's not getting a spark?

Update. When I was trying to start the scooter, I noticed that the battery finally started dying. It is a brand new Duralast CTX7A-BS FP battery. So I took the battery to get checked, he put the two prongs on the positive and negative posts, got a reading of 11. , came to the conclusion that the problem was that the scooter isn't charging the battery. He said that once the battery gets to a certain voltage it would have caused the scooter to shutdown. Any ideas on why the battery isn't getting charged?

Yes. Female connector is for accessories. How did you check for spark? It should be grounded to the engine and NOT the frame. Next would be to check the main ground to the frame. Sand down if need be for metal to metal contact. Then check the coil wire (spark plug wire) all the way to the end. Easiest with the seat out of the bike. At the end there r two wires. make sure they r firmly planted. Next after that check the connections at the CDI. Black box with 5 wires. Disconnect and make sure your contact point are firmly in place and not moving so they have a solid connection. This should get u going.

At this point I don't think it is the battery. It is slightly discharged due to cranking. Your scooter will run with a dead battery. That is why it has a kick start. Chinese scooters are far different from cars.

Definitely not the battery. I double checked the spark plug because I think the other guy who was checking the plug for a spark was holding it to the frame. Good thing you said something! Anyways, we still got no spark, however he did report feeling a little shock as he was holding the rubber booting. This a clear sign of anything? I'll go through the steps you listed tomorrow and see how it goes.

Check your spark plug boot. It just screws into the wire. They some times come loose. Look at the spark plug and make sure it has a gap. If you have another spark plug try it. Once in the while spark plugs do go bad.
