Well since I could not sleep I decided to do some inspecting again , and I fix my variator problem . Well I figured it out and I'm going to fix my new variator in a couple mins . Anyway the fact the the new variators are a couple mm wider " that is the length of the boss port " had no bearing on the matter since the back of the variator lays on the rollers and does not touch the middle of the variator . The problem was the variator plate that holds the rollers in . Luckily I had the one that came with my old Koso and I put rollers in my 2nd Koso and measured the with of the variator with the back plate on then I put the old plate on and measured it , the variator was about 2mm or so thinner with the old plate on . Problem solved . Damn that feels good . Now I'm gonna have to make sure the weight of the rollers are ok or need to be changed .

I have a new cvt cover coming in today anyway. I put my old variator, with rollers in it, next to one of the new ones and sat a hacksaw blade on edge across them. I can slide a dime between the blade and the old variator. Wiki says a dime is 1.35 mm. That would equate to a little over 3/16" of belt rise or fall on the pulley.

Me too. Is the plate itself thinner material? Or is it just shaped differently so that the overall dimensions change?

I did take pics , I still have to upload them so I'll try to get them up as soon as possible . And the variator plate is shaped slightly different , it's very hard to tell by looking at them , but you can see on the old plate the rollers sit furthe towards the middle of the plate then the others .

Here are a couple pics of the variator roller plate . The first is the plate that came with the newer Koso , look at where the the rollers rest , they rest much further towards the center of the older plate " second pic" . The arms of the plate must be slightly angled different causing the problem on with the newer kosos . .
