Rainy Ride

So the forecast was 10% chance of rain, I didn't see anything that looked like rain so I rode to work. During the night I brought up a radar website and it showed rain, but looking outside 99% of what was falling was evaporating before it hit the ground. Two hours later when I got off work was another story. It was only a light rain but everything was wet.
I got out my harbor freight rain slicker and put it on. Stayed below 40 MHP the whole 30 mile way home. Learned that harbor freight rain slickers are torn apart by wind at 40 mph, but also learned that if you avoid water puddles the scooter itself didn't mind the rain at all. :-)
Next time there is a chance of rain, if it's the least bit cold will not be taking the scooter.
BTW rain drops at 40 mph sting!

Yeah,, If your going to do alot of rain riding you have to really make sure you give the wire harness,plugs,coil,cdi,ect.... alot of attention with these chinese scoots.Good quality shrink tubing and some clear silicone sealer goes a long way...

A servicable rain suite can be purchased at Motorcycle Super Store for less than $50. Just be sure to get the next size or two larger on the pants and don't let them droop so you won't split the seams on the seat of the pants.

I camped out under a bridge near the finger lakes in NY state for 14 hours. Slept in the grass (except the 4 times the cops woke me up to see if I was OK *LOL* )

I'd have a hard time explaining that at work. Rain or shine I am on time.
Fail to prepare then be prepared to fail.

i ride in the rain often. i usually try to wait until it stops but i don't always have the time. but the worst part of wet roads is your stopping distance basically doubles. not a problem if you just widen your following distance but it can be a serious problem if someone pulls out in front of you. a yellow rain jacket is probably the best defense against the rain and to help with visibility.

Get them from Cycle Gear under the Bilt house brand name and they come with a 5 year warranty however you will spend more than $50 for the jacket and pants. The Frog Toggs don't have stirups on the pants to keep them from riding up over your boot cuffs and they also do not have snaps or velcro to keep the back of the jacket from riding up over the waist line of the pants so I use a pair of ball end tent bungies to keep them tighter around the ankles to prevent them from riding up as easily and add three snaps to the back of the jacket to attach it to the pants to keep the back of the jacket covering the waistline of the pants. Snap Kit is available at WallMart for about $5:00: www.walmart.com/ip/No-Sew-Snaps-with-Tool/19757792
