Ok guys need help. Here's my current setup.
139QMB 50 with... 52mm Cylinder (looks to be the same scrappy sells but I bought it brand new on craigslist for $25) scrappy performance head with the large valves red hot coil Orange CDI 220 CCA Duralast AGM battery Scrappy high torque starter 24MM Carb that came with performance head 150 intake
So my issue is it just cranks and cranks but won't start. I pull the plug and I'm flooded half the time. Anyone with experience with the 24mm carbs? I think they are just basically the stock 150 carbs with a 105main and not sure on pilot I think 35?

Carb is to big for that setup, Even MILLSC had a hard time with a 24mm carb on his setup and I believe he took it off. You people thing dumping a gallon of gas in the motor is going to do something for you. It does not work that way, your not at 125 -150ccs. Your correct the 24mm carbs usually come with anywhere from a 103-107 main and a #35 pilot jet. Put in a 30 or so pilot jet to at least not flood it out. Alleyoop

alleyoop Do you know what stock is on a 50? I put an main on my original carb and just wondering if swapping the main and the pilot off the original would be better? BTW "You people" don't believe dumping a ton of gas in will make it run better. It's become very clear to me that carbs with these mods is a delicate balance of getting the right amount of air and gas into the engine. I'm just trying to make what I was sold work.

The stock 50s usually come with a 18mm carb and the pilots are anywhere from 29-32 and the Mains are anywhere from 62-69. So yes swap out the jets from the old carb especially the PILOT JET Slap in the # Main and then turn the fuel ratio screw clockwise until it stops and then turn it out 2 1/2 turns and see if it will start up. Once it starts let it idle for at least 5 minutes and then adjust the fuel ratio to get the highest IDLE out of it and then try it out. Alleyoop

Still no go with original pilot and new main. Cranks over like crazy but not starting. I even pulled the plug out and tested it against the engine again to ensure spark and its definitely sparking. Any recommendations on a plug & play carb? Also, just to double check does not having the uni filter on make any difference? I never had a problem getting it to start without in on the old engine so just wanted to check. Frustrated! Blackbag

Yes, it is sucking nothing but air not enough fuel ALWAYS put the air filter on them Otherwise you will have a of a time adjusting anything on them IF they do start. Alleyoop

Well I finally figured out the right combo to get her to start. Requires a slight twist on the accelerator to get it to start. Pain in the arse to dial in the air mixture. I also replaced the plug with an iridium which I think helped get a stronger spark to fire.

Good Job, turn the idle up a little so it stays running and adjust the Fuel Mixture on the carb to get the highest idle. Alleyoop
