So I bought a 50cc Chinese scoot with a 139QMB and it has an issue with kicking out the bendix. I've tried everything from running battery direct +- to the starter to switching out the bendix but still no go. I pulled the case off and used a socket to butt the end of the bendix against while attempting to turn it over and I see that it (bendix) does spin (clockwise) but its not kicking out at all. Battery is fully charged 10 Amp hour with 120 CCV. My thought at this point is that an electric current runs into the bendix from the starter and kicks it out and it's not purely being pushed out from centrifugal force?
2nd question, Do the high torque performance starters work well? I've seen them on scrappy dog and figured if I'm going to replace the starter I might as well get a good one.
Thanks,
Adam

Bendix moves out by centrifugal force , there is a spring on the end of it so it retracts after you stop the starter. Have you tried cleaning it and squirting a little bit of oil between the two halfs. I spins out on worm type threads inside. Alleyoop

The bendix is brand new and clean. It seems to travel smoothly across the worm threads when manually tested but it just seems that it doesn't get enough power to overcome the resistance of the spring. I ordered a high torque starter Monday from Scrappy Dawg so I'll let you know how it goes once that comes in. I figure I'll need the extra torque in the starter anyways since I just picked up a 51.5mm cylinder last night from craigslist and plan on ordering a larger ported head this weekend.

I got the new high torque starter from scrappy today. Just installed it and bam threw the bendix right into gear. Makes the oem starter look like a hamster wheel. Hopefully it will work well when I get the 83CC BBK in.

make sure your not burning out the new starter by grounding the ground wire at the right spot. mine ground to a starter bolt screw. but mines not a ayamah.
