I have a Jonway Spray 125. The head light works when the engine is switched off. I arrived home one day turned off the engine and as it was dark left my headlights on while pushing the scooter to its resting place. As i turned around a corner the lights just died without warning. I parked it and the next morning I found my battery had been sucked dry. All blinkers and all work while in ignition just not the head lights. What I found was that the rear brake light works but not the running light. Lights do not return even with the motor running. Could it just be that the battery is old? scooter is 4 years old. The lights did not dim just die all of a sudden. Can I rule out my stator as the scooter was off when the lights stopped working?
Sorry for all the questions. Thank you

Glen welcome to the forum !!!!!!
Without proper electrical tests it is hard to be 100% sure . If your scooter were in my Shop I would put a regulator in it and see if it fixes the problem.
My guess is you have a 4 pin regulator . If you look on my site link in my banner , 4 pin regulator you will see what it looks like .

Hi John
Thanx. so my best option is to take it down to my local bike shop to have it checked out? Would it be advisable to buy a new battery before hand and test it since I would have to buy one anyway or not?

Maybe your headlight just burned out.

The first test is to put the multimeter on the battery while the bike is running and see if it's charging. That will tell you a lot about the stator and R/R. If you're 13+dc the charging circuit is probably OK. That's the white wire. Now, take the yellow wire off of the R/R. Put one probe of your multi in the end of that wire, it doesn't matter which probe. If you have three yellows that's a three phase which is a different animal but with a 125 I doubt it. Ground the other probe to frame. Start the motor and see what you get on AC. If you're getting 25v AC or so the stator is probably OK and it's probably the R/R. The yellow on your bike handles most of the lights, unless it's three phase. If you don't get squat on the battery or the yellow, it's probably the stator. The battery won't affect the charge rate a lot unless it is REALLY toast, but usually it won't affect it enough to throw up a huge red flag, but there are no absolutes. If in doubt, take your battery down to Auto Weinie and get it "load tested", that is a completely different test. You also may have had a ground come loose from the lighting circuit. If the other test are negative, you'll have to pull some plastic and start tracing wires.

Thank you for the advice guys. I took it apart the past weekend and the problem seems to have been a combination of a blown bulb and blown fuse. All seems ok for now
