Puerto Rico has the strictest laws in the entire world for scooters, motorcycles. At all times we must wear DOT Helmet (Helmet cannot have any tint if it has a face shield) Eye Protection Gloves Long Pants Boots that cover the ankle After 6pm A reflector vest must be worn Lights on a scooter must be on at all times of the day. Exhaust must have a silencer installed if its not stock Scooter must have mirrors.

I can see all the others, but gloves, ankle boots and long pants is really a nanny state. But, agreed, gloves save the hands from road rash ankle boots may save broken ankels And long pants is only common sense.
(I had the gloves on but was wearing sketchers and shorts when I had my accident)None of which would have saved me any more damage. The helmet saved my life tho
I got stopped once for my psgr not having eye protection. But gave her my helmet and i had my glasses on,so he let us go.
Got stopped in Sturgis for loud pipes, but the Bubs Exhaust hada baffles, so I got off there too (Me, with my Honda 1100 getting stopped for loud pipes, with 500,000 harleys all around me-go figure)

And,I apologize for hacking this thread for my own personal issues. But, back to the topic:
Yea, PR seems to have taken a tough stance on MC's and scooters. Because the gob't knows better than we's do.

Because the gob't knows better than we's do. and the bike (Magna 750 bobber) I was riding when I lost my leg, just to the upper left of the blue car, which the GMC in the background hit before hitting me. and, yes, that's the LF tire of the GMC. And, to show this is related. I was wearing a helmet and gloves, but shorts and skecthers. See, I can stay on topic Attachments:

I can see all the others, but gloves, ankle boots and long pants is really a nanny state. Prevents insurance denials of coverage so the goverment does not get hooked for your medical care as often. US Armed Forces will all deny medical and loss of life coverage if you were riding a motorcycle/scooter at the time without a helmet, long sleeved riding jacket, long pants, gloves and over the ankle boots. The more budgets are streatched the more you will see these types of regulations not to protect you from yourself but to protect others from having to pay for your medical bills and such.

That is soo true. The military, for years, has denied insurance settlements for any deviation of their regularions. Thanx for the reminder

Sorry to hear about your experience, davec, and glad you're back up on the horse. To OP: I hate pigs. That's why I always follow the law (except speeding in a 25) so if they **** with me, I **** back and if they badger me while I'm riding, they will be up on YouTube the next day. I don't put up with their shi8. I know the laws and I know my rights. I know too many of them after having a brother-in-law in the force (plain clothes officer, ultra-corrupt) that abuse their power. You gotta push back to keep that line from creeping in too close.
