Hi everyone! I have a 50 cc Chinese scooter that is about 6 years old, with just over 7500 miles on it. There was some goop in my gas tank, which got into my carb and clogged it up. Even after a good cleaning, I wasn't getting the performance out of it that I previously had, so I replaced it with another 18mm intake carb. I've adjusted the idle and A/F mix every possible way, and still get sputtering at about 3/4 throttle. As the electric choke is engaged, it runs just fine (even at 3/4 to full throttle). I've also noticed that when the temps are cooler, it runs better than when the temps warm up outside. I'm convinced this is a carb/air/fuel problem, I'm just not sure where to go from here as the carb was the only change I made. I suspect it might have something to do with the main jet -possibly it's a different size than the old one? I see a lot of familiar faces (from the old dawg forum) so I'm really hoping some of you smart fellas can help a girl out! Thanks!! JennyB

Take the main jet out of the old carb and put it in your new one and see if that helps. After 3/4 throttle that is when the main jet comes on. Alleyoop

Changing the jet is a great call. Did you get the "goop" out of the tank, filter and fuel line? I am guessing a four stroke. A valve adjustment might help. Check your air filter and spark plug.
