Walterwhite,
Welcome to the site!
My old '07 Xingyue 150 had a factory carb that never was right. I replaced it the second year. That was over 5 years ago, but GY6 parts seem to go on forever... I found a direct-replacement Japanese MIKUNI carb on eBay for under $50. It worked perfectly for 6 years.
I think you just need to search the net, and there should also be more members here with CURRENT experience who will chime in here.
Best wishes for sure!

I have to ask, what do you expect from a Expensive Brand Carb that other carbs will not do? They all work the same way and ANY 50-100+ carb can get clogged. Run them without an Air Filter and the Air passages can get clogged, run them without a good Fuel Filter and tiny particles from the tank and or inside the hoses can clog the jets and its fuel passages. Alleyoop Kind of surprised you would say that, this being a mechanic type of forum. in a simple answer: quality, im looking for quality cause we all know the stock carbs from china arent that good

That is exactly why I put the question to you. Quality you get from the outside finish of the carb the inners not much there parts are all the same, where do you think those carbs are made. Just for your information my Trike came with a Keihin Japan carb and the first year I replaced it with a 40 dollar aftermarket carb that was back in 2009. That carb is still on there today the only thing it now has different is a bigger main jet and a bigger pilot jet due to the BBK. Never have taken it off since to clean or nothing, just minor adjustment to the Fuel Mixture due to temp changes. It has now been 5 years so much for bad carbs as you say. Just about everyone has put on an aftermarket carb and are running just fine.
It all has to do with a good Fuel Filter and Air Filter and knowing how to tune the carb of course. I am a heck of a mechanic, being doing this for Decades that is why I ask WHY when someone is going to spend money on something I know makes no difference and thinking it will actually do something more for them.
Many folks believe all the hype especially when it comes to performance parts, they do not know what makes things tick to either get the most out of a motor or cvt or tranny and they buy the stuff and many just take them right off because it makes the scoot run worse. Alleyoop

I drew up the panda myself... I also did the "ItIsTheRide" banner, and the "Scooter Rebels" banner. I'm an old artist... I made the panda, and any art used on the site, property of the site. I don't think Doug would mind you using it, but you do need to ask permission from the moderators. He probably has a good large jpeg. If not, PM me and I'll send you one.
Thanks for the compliment!
Leo
PS: I've got one MORE "FUBAR" on the original carbs for Alleyoop... The original Chinese rubber fuel lines can decompose, and totally trash the inside of the carb's passages... Yup! Mine did that... EEEEWWWW!
I don't think there's anything inherently bad with the Chinese carbs. There's just not that much to them. Thinking back, my carb was probably trashed from the dissolving fuel lines. I did replace all lines along with the new Mikuni carb. No problems after that.

The number one reason for replacing a carb on a gy6 is not that any particular carb will give better performance, but just to have one with easy access. The sealed air/fuel screw and cut off float bowl bolts on most stock gy6 carbs post 2007 are a pain, but can be dealt with without purchasing a new carb.

<snip> i'm in south florida also and ended up going with the 118 jet and needle clamp at the top. everything else still stock except gates belt and fuel line. it was running gr8 a few weeks ago but now that the temps are a bit warmer i think it is running a tad rich. where in south FL? my new carb came with a 105 main jet but i changed it to a 108 before installing it

Well lets talk about the "FUBAR" on the original carbs for Alleyoop. I bought my trike back in March of 2009 the trike was made in 2008, so lets see what is it today May of 2014 little more than "FIVE" years just since I have had it and here is the "FUBAR" I still have the SAME FUEL HOSES on as well as the Same VACUUM hoses and same FUEL PUMP, same stator and pick up coil. Such much for the "FUBAR" of decomposing rubber hoses don't you think . Alleyoop
