I recently purchased a 2012 TaoTao Evo with about 1000 miles on the clock.
Went through the entire bike and fixed any little issues that the previous owner neglected.
Now I'm trying to figure out why the forks feel so bad. They feel sticky and have no real rebound. If you sit on the scooter they compress an inch or so which is probably normal but if you push them down they just kind of stay in the position. The action is very sticky, not smooth at all.
I have taken them completely apart and everything seems to be normal, nothing broken inside. Refilled with 3 oz of 15 weight fork oil and put a few washers at the top of the springs to make them a little stiffer.
It helped a little but they still feel like crap. They seem to bottom out way too easy too.
I'm thinking about just getting new legs but I hate to waste the money if the new ones feel the same way. Anyone have any thoughts? Do all gy6 forks feel like this?
I considered upgrading to NCY forks but that's almost as much $$$ as I paid for the scooter. lol
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

I sorta know what u mean , I bought new front shocks because mine felt a little weak . I never had the stickyness they just felt weak , so I bought a new set last season " just stock shocks " and they weren't much stiffer . So I'm guessing if u want better front fork shocks u may want to buy a better brand . Unless the oem shocks are made to be adjusted and if so I'd like to know .

Put in heavier weight oil that will stiffen them up. Alleyoop I second guessed myself when I was buying the oil. I had the 20 weight in my hand and ended up going with 15. I wish I could find more info about how much oil people were using. I've done a lot of searching and can't find much. Mine only had around 1.5 oz of the stock oil in each leg when I dumped them out. I doubled that and put 3 oz in each leg. Would putting more in help?

Yea you should have used the 20 weight, but they usually take right around 230ml little less than 8oz. Alleyoop

That's the highest amount I've seen someone recommend on the 150cc scoots. 8 oz per leg, right? I'll have to give that a shot. That has to feel different than 3 oz. It's hard to believe it only had 1.5 oz from the factory. Maybe the previous owner drained them for some reason. Thanks for the tip!
